It’s done! ☠️💙⚔️ Drop a tattoo emoji below!! 🤘🏻 It’s the Tattoo Flash Cardigan pattern by @beacreativeknits and it will be available July 11th, 2026!🧑‍🩰 I had such a great time testing this pattern and am obviously obsessed with the results. Like how could I not love this x a million?? A frikkin tattooed cardigan?? Made for me. Anyway. I am loving the fit of it. It came out exactly as I envisioned which is super cool. Pattern // #TattooFlashCardigan by @beacreativeknits is a drop shoulder design with German short row shaping at the top of the back panel. The front and back panels are worked flat in stranded colourwork. You can use intarsia as well for large gaps or I used ladderback jacquard to carry long floats. Sleeves are worked in the round after the front and back sides are seamed. You can put whatever numbers you want on the end of the sleeves; Bea includes charts for digits 0-9. Rolled hems, a double knit button band and a squishy folded collar finish the cardigan. Sizing // The cardigan is designed to fit a chest circumference from 28” to 62” via sizes XS to 5XL. The ease recommended is approx. 12”. My make // I made size 2XL, recommended for a chest size of 48-50” and my chest is approx. 47” currently. My final garment has approx 12” of ease at my chest. I’m 5’4 and I made zero modifications to the cardigan for this test knit. The sleeves are maybe a tad long but I think it suits the vibe. Other testers had to add length to their sleeves, so it totally depends on your own body of course. My yarn // I used @knittingforolive Heavy Merino in the colours Blue Tit and Blue Dove. I used 1,622 meters of yarn for this cardigan. Originally I bought this yarn to make a striped sweater so I had equal quantities of both colours. This is why I came up with doing the half & half look, because I didn’t have enough of one colour to do the whole thing! Buttons from @needlecraftsandstudio If you get to the end of this caption, tell me what numbers you’d put on your sleeves! 🕺🏼 As usual, photos shown seated, close up, all angles. Reminder, it’s a test knit so minor changes to the pattern may occur before release. by @whattracymakes
Obvs dressed exactly period appropriate for the @cookscreekmedievalfestival 👀🤭. They had cropped metal knitter tees & lemonade in to-go cups back then right? 💁 Anywayyyy, we had a fun time and walked all around the grounds of this old church and castle 🏰. We watched some jousting & sauntered through the market area. Lots of artisans showed all the gorgeous things they made. Steve tried the festival specific beer & we enjoyed lemonade. I had a delish iced americano as well & we had burgers! All around great time was had by all. Loved seeing everyone’s attire of courseeeeee. I wore: - metal font #knittertee by @handmadebygib because what’s more badass than that at a medieval festival? Who needs weapons ⚔️ when you have knitting needles 🧶? - the #metallurgycoif pattern by @witchinghourknits made in gorgeous Yaldi Yak DK in the colour Bog Hag from @theweeyarncompany (I was jazzed to wear this piece to a place that would “get it” and I got a few questions about what pattern it was from some knitters, so ya know 😌.) - the #ginkgopinafore by @madswick_studio felt like the perfect nod to medieval times honestly… I couldn’t think of anything else in my wardrobe that would be better. - shoes are just my most walkable sandal and tie in the black tee, Dr. Martens fyi, secondhand. - Pegasus, my trusty walker. Got me from A to B and everywhere in between. Plus I get to sit down whenever I need to which included: watching jousting, eating food, people watching. 🧑‍🩰 Ok that’s it! Hope you like my photos. The little piggy and the goats are just resting in the shade in the petting zoo area. They were too cute not to photograph. Swipe to the last two photos to see an exhausted me + how sweaty my pinafore was at the end of the day. 😂 by @whattracymakes
I couldn’t keep this one to myself any longer. 🙈 Edit: The pattern is now available via @katrynseeburger 💜. Happy knitting! Pattern // The Homecoming Quilt Vest pattern by @katrynseeburger is my latest finished test knit. According to Ravelry, I started this on March 2, so for all of you who think I am some kind of speed-knitter 👀, this vest took me 3 months to make. 💟 Size // I made size 7 which has a 56” finished chest circumference. This gives me 8-10” of positive ease currently. My body changed within the 3 months I knit this, so it does have more ease than I intended but I still love the fit on me. Note: The recommended positive ease in the pattern is 2-4” and there are 10 sizes up to a 68” finished chest circumference. Yarn // The main light purple is by @fireweed.fibreco in their Sweet Pea Sock Base in the colour Forget Me Not. The other 3 contrast purples are by @feistyfibres in their Rockin Sox Base and are mystery OOAK skeins. I used a total of 2,175 meters of fingering weight yarn held double to achieve the DK gauge. I absolutely love how this turned out. All the details are on my Ravelry project page. It was a pleasure to test for @katrynseeburger with a relaxed timeline & size inclusive pattern. I loved seeing all the testers’ creativity with their colour combinations. 🌈 #HomecomingQuiltVest #TestKnit #ShownSeated #StyledSeated #Knitting Pants I’m wearing are the Archer Work Pants by @matchymatchysewingclub by @whattracymakes
Happy Halloween 🎃👻🐈‍⬛ IG deleted my caption as always so here’s round 2 that’s less funny and jovial. 😑 Pattern // Nocturnal Jumper by @saskieco, I’ve wanted to knit this for 2 years and I finally decided to do it when my surgery got postponed a secondddddd time. I was like *eff this I’m gonna cast on something new for Halloween then!* 😂 Yarn // @knittingforolive Merino held with Soft Silk Mohair for each colour. I’ve had this yarn waiting in stash for so long. This is totally off gauge. Essentially I chose to knit two sizes larger than my normal size, but I will give more details when I fully finish the project because I did make some mods to account for the gauge difference. Hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween. 🎃 Close up scaredy cats 🐈‍⬛ I might as well pretend I can wear it. My ladderback jacquard floats. 👀 by @whattracymakes
The wind was a paid actor. Blessing your feed with another finished object because if I don’t post it now, I’ll forget the details! Pattern // The Collage Cardigan (currently in testing) by @pickyfemme with @pompommag. It’s a raglan cardigan (that you can also knit as a pullover of you’d rather) & it has sizes from 0-3 months all the way up to 69” finished chest circumference, so extremely size inclusive. The instructions are great, if you saw my scrappy checkers sweater you’ll know I’ve knit from the Picky Femme x Pom Pom series before. The yoke has a chart provided fully planned out so you can follow that for the increases without having to over think / plan, however you can fully go your own way and do it all yourself as well. I personally followed the yoke plan and then I went rogue for the body and sleeves with all the charts provided just popping in whatever I wanted whenever! 💁🥳 It was very fun. It is all over stranded colourwork flat with intarsia so I would say having previous colourwork experience might be best before tackling this one! OR start with a baby version to get the hang of it then make yourself one after! Boom! 💥 I made size 5 with a few less stitches on the body to give me the fit I wanted. I am fully obsessed with the result. Yarn // My main colour is Peer Gynt by @sandnesgarn in the colourway Oatmeal. All of the contrast colours are @briggslittle Heritage (I have them all listed on my Ravelry project page if you want exact colours!) The yarn was all from stash and the buttons were also already in my button stash. Listen….. I have a lot of fibre arts related supplies as a chronic crafter. 🫣👻 Anywayyyyy, love the outcome, the wind made it impossible to control my newly dyed hair so whatever. I wanted to take the photos with the Fall leaves though, so it was a sacrifice I had to make. 🍂 I’ll update here when the #CollageCardigan pattern is published. Testing still has a couple more weeks left. Thanks to @pickyfemme x @pompommag for having me as a tester. This pattern was so so fun to knit. 🧶 Pants are @matchymatchysewingclub Archer Work Pants in railroad denim. by @whattracymakes
My surgery was postponed (TWICE 🙄) so y’all get finished socks on the grid. Thank my surgeons. 😂👻 I didn’t think I’d finish these in time for Halloween but alas, the repeated delays of our medical system provided the silver lining of me having time to finish these. Pattern // It’s a mashup of 2 patterns! I used the large bats from @stoneknits “I’m Batty for Halloween” socks, I also used her ribbed heel flap method, turn and gusset! The large cats and the tiny toe bats are from @marjoram_knits “Scaredy Cat” socks! 🦇🐈‍⬛ I did my own anatomical toes. The full details are on Ravelry of exactly what charts I put where and what I did for the sections not in the patterns. I made between size 2 & 3 for both and I think I will need to reduce my stitch count next pair of colourwork socks because my tension is getting looser the more I knit colourwork. Yarn // The main star of the show colourway is Love Nest by @oliveparkyarns in her sock base. Gorgeous colour. I used Lang Jawoll in black for the contrast. Happy Halloween to all who celebrate 🎃. I hope you’re knitting something spooky and eating a bunch of mini candy. Since I don’t know when I will finally go into surgery, I’ll just be here in limbo waiting and knitting. K tysm bye bye 👋🏻 by @whattracymakes
Green grass, autumn leaves 🍂 Venturing out on my last outing for the foreseeable future. Your bb is getting surgery in a few days. This is probably my last ootd pic for a while also. 😅 I’m scared y’all. Ok, not gonna dwell. Heading to town to get some last few supplies I need for the hospital and for recovery at home. I’m sure I’ll post some sort of update after surgery during the next week as proof of life but I doubt I’ll be sharing any ootds or finished makes on my body for a long while. It is very possible no one notices LOL, but for people who do, now you know why. ✨ Excited to hopefully have improved quality of life by the time I’m back to my outfit shenanigans. What I am wearing today for my last jaunt around town 💁: #SidelineSweater pattern coming soon by @knit.alee - details in a past post and ravelry, yarn is Peer Gynt by @sandnesgarn #LanePants pattern by @hisydgraham that I made ages ago now in denim by @blackbirdfabrics #EloiseBandana pattern by @katrynseeburger in the shawlette size in yarn Eco Sock yarn by @sundayfibreco Baggu bag & Vans shoes Ok that’s all! Hopefully I’m back on my BS way sooner than expected but we shall see. ✨🤞🏻 by @whattracymakes
✨The Jelly Cardigan✨ A Thanksgiving Monday finished object for y’all. I was torn between knitting the long sleeves or short sleeves but it just seemed TOO CUTE as the short sleeve to keep going. Did I make the right choice?? 👀🫣 Pattern // Test knit of the #JellyCardigan for @mei.knits in size 5. No mods. I did two decrease repeats for the waist shaping and two increase repeats for the hip (the shaping is outlined in the pattern for those who want to do it fyi.) I used Jeny’s Suprisingly Stretchy Bind Off at the hem and it fits really nicely at my hip with zero pulling at the button band. I did fully wet block this and I pinned in into the shape I wanted because I a bit worried with how small it looked… BUT, hindsight 20/20, I should have trusted the stretch in the stitch pattern and not pinned it as much, because I reduced the texture maybe a bit too much I think. I am extremely happy with the fit of it though and I think as I wear it for a day, the texture will puff back up a bit more with movement. ***The stitch pattern is VERY stretchy, trust the process!!!*** Yarn // I used @sonderyarnco Haze in the colourway Limoncello (a very perfect colour name.) Haze is a lace weight, 75% Suri Alpaca / 25% Silk. It’s SOOOO soft and was a delight to knit with. It feels luxurious to wear. I am a bit sensitive to Mohair so I will definitely be opting for Suri Alpaca more often now knowing how delightful it is to wear. 🙌🏻 Testing is still in progress for this cardigan design but I’ll update as always when it’s published and my Ravelry will have all the details of my make as well including yarn meterage used. Wearing with cobalt linen #alldayculottes by @matchymatchysewingclub + handknit ghost socks by @stoneknits + doc platform oxfords. Peach buttons I found in my stash because I am a button hoarder. 😬🫶🏻 Oh and swipe to the end for Steve photobombing 🤪. #knitting #sewing #memadeclothes ootd, handmade clothes, memade wardrobe, test knitting, millennial knitter, sewist by @whattracymakes
Throwin’ a fit for Thanksgiving 🍂🌽🥧. Canadian Thanksgiving celebrates Fall Harvest and is a time to be thankful for the past year’s blessings. Boy oh boy, I could write a novel on what I’m thankful for this past year. Also thankful for the coming weeks and months when I’ll hopefully be regaining some of my quality of life back after years of struggle. 🥹 Anyway, I’m gonna go eat some pie with family this weekend, ok bye bye. 👋🏻 I hope all my fellow Canadians have a beautiful weekend spent with people and foods you love. 🤪 (Oh and 🇨🇦 Thanksgiving is not the same as 🇺🇸 Thanksgiving… tysm.) Outfit details: - Classic Ribbed Hat by @purlsoho (free pattern), which I knit extra long so I could fold the brim double. Yarn is 100% BFL from a dyer who is not dyeing yarn anymore. - Archer Work Pants by @matchymatchysewingclub in striped railroad denim - Handknit socks with @oliveparkyarns Tweed Merino - Caladium Vest (test knit) by @emmas.knits, pattern not published yet. FYI, the vest and pants fit looser on me right now than the intended fit for the patterns. by @whattracymakes
How did I forget to post this finished SEWING project 🫣?!! I know, it’s been awhile (cue Staind song 😂….) Pattern // The Valley Pinafore by @emilylightly in a cotton flannel shirting I had in my stash. I think it was from Fabricland years ago tbh. This was a fit test, so there were minor changes made to the pattern after the full testing took place. The bib grade was changed to prevent that bit of gaping that was occurring and there were instructions added for how to achieve the best fit for that area. I made view B in size 20 and did the patch pockets. As with all of Emily’s patterns, the instructions are great and the style lines are really perfect imo 👌🏻. Outfit // I’m wearing the #ValleyPinafore with a #bfcarrie crop by @bfpatterns & my handknit #WindowSeatSocks by @dr_physicsandfiberarts Hope you all enjoy my very late posting of this new pinafore pattern. It’s très cute and it made the perfect fall outfit. You can get the pattern now via @emilylightly 🫶🏻. ✨Rat City Socks✨ Happy Socktober to all who celebrate. 🎊 Pardon me while I post my feet online again. 🫣 It won’t be the last time this month, sorry not sorry. I can’t stop making socks. They are so fun and little and quick and fun (did I say that already?) Pattern // You should check out the #RatCitySocks pattern by @imperfectioknits because they’re stinkin’ cute. I made size L in these, no mods except artistically lol. I kind of went rogue with how I used the MC/CC and how I did my stripes. It makes it look like the rats are cut out of the CC which is kinda sick actually… maybe? 🤔 **Update: The pattern is out now as of October 15th!** Yarn // I used a @fullmoonfibres Solar Sock base in the variegated colourway Haunted Cottage Core, with @littlelionheadknits Merino Nylon base in the colourway Let’s Picnic. Loved knitting these. First time doing a square heel turn so that was new and it fits nicely on my foot. I think I’ll use it again in future socks! Hindsight, I probably should have used a solid colour for the rats 🐀 to make them pop more but I’m still super pleased with how they came out. Swipe to see the socks sans sandals and me when the sky haha! #socktober #sockknitting #knitting #handknitsocks by @whattracymakes
✨Window Seat Socks✨ I’m so sorry but I have finished another pair of socks. It’s not my fault they are so fun and smol 🤏🏻🥹. Pattern // These beauties are the Window Seat Socks, one of two new patterns launched today by @dr_physicsandfiberarts along with her official website! Woop 🙌🏻. I was happy to test the Window Seat Socks and finished them just in time to celebrate the beginning of Socktober. 🧦🍂 I made size 3 with no modifications other than accidentally knitting an extra heel flap row which gave me an extra gusset pick up stitch. iykyk, otherwise this makes no sense if you are not a sock knitter. 😅 I did one chart repeat for the leg, but you can do two if you want a higher sock! The fit is perfection. Love the mock cables and how it looks like airplane seating from the top view with window seat rows. 💺 Yarn // The fastest I’ve ever bought and used a yarn 😅. This is the special show colourway, Fort Whyte, that @fireweed.fibreco dyed for the @manitobafibrefestival. It might be the perfect yarn for this sock design… I dunno… I don’t think I could have picked better. Stunnnnnning colourway. Happy #Socktober to all who celebrate. I may or may not have just finished another pair of socks and have another halfway done… eeee 😆. Anyway, hope you love them as much as I do! 🥰 #sockknitting #knitter #knittingpattern #sockpattern by @whattracymakes
