So proud of these little savers! They’ve been filling up their piggy banks and finally got to cash in today. A part of me was so sick of trying to keep track of their coins which kept leaving their piggy banks to be found all over the floor… 🤫

But we’re still teaching them the value of a dollar, one toy aisle at a time. They were truly so proud of themselves and loved being able to say “Dad, WE bought these!” The experience was WELL worth it.

Bonus lesson: they kept saying, “well if we can’t afford this, maybe Santa will bring it.” Oh, I’m sorry, you guys need a man to come buy you something? I don’t think so. I won’t be having them being impressed by the first random guy that buys them a Paw Patrol toy. 🙅‍♂️😂

We started a new tradition!

Back to school dinner night now includes a “fancy” restaurant, and the girls get to choose their outfits, their hair, and their pretend makeup

Scottie did her own hair and makeup, and Jojo asked me to do hers: “dad you don’t know how to do this. Just try your best”

My children the entire time we were there: “McDonald’s is like way better. You don’t even have to wait forever for your food” by @wheat_thin

Can we PLEASE retire the term “broken family”?…

Right now, my feed is full of the algorithm glorifying divorce like it’s the ultimate trend. Let me be clear: I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

However, divorce is NOT a death sentence.

When society constantly treats it like a tragedy that ruins kids, we project a tragic narrative onto our families. We give our children an uphill battle they shouldn’t have to fight, against a label they never asked for.

If making light of divorce is “cool,” then I don’t want to be cool.

But if the joy, the chaos, the resilience, and the deep love I experience every single day with my girls is what society considers “broken”...

...then I genuinely hope everyone gets to experience being “broken”.

When there are parents or even a parent who love their children and would give anything for them, that’s a loving ideal home. I’m so incredibly grateful to be a father to my two little angels every single day (Father’s Day has me feeling sappy 😂😭)

Add this Utah hidden gem to your family summer bucket list!

If you’re looking for unique places to stay or fun things to do in Utah with kids, Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort is a 10/10 must. A friend of mine purchased it a few years ago, and we just stayed in a refurbished train car outfitted like a cozy mountain Airbnb. The girls absolutely loved it! 🚂🌲

It’s an easy family road trip closer than St. George (just over 2 hours) and a completely different experience than what we’re used to.

There’s the river for fishing, rafting, and tubing, MILES of beautiful bike trails, and tons of kid-friendly hikes. We biked about 13 miles through the canyon, saw a bunch of old mining equipment and tunnels, and did a hike that was 100% harder than it looked. 😅

We had some casualties (Scottie stabbing herself with a walking stick 🩹) and some negative attitudes, but nothing that a few bites from Jojo’s fave snack couldn’t fix (Funyuns for the win ).
