I’m done being sad and angry because, the truth is, nobody would have been happy in any outcome that could have came about last week. Even our little community here, my beautiful echo chamber of empathetic souls, was divided between several third parties and Anyone But Him.

In the next four years, I have a concept of a plan (to support these orgs):

* American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) - they have continually fought for LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, and this inhumane mass deportation

* National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) - they are defending against attempts to revoke environmental protections by supporting the preservation and conservation of wildlife, as well as the stories of marginalized voices

* Environmental Defence Fund - I’m supporting scientists & economists, real professionals, reduce the impacts of pollution on people, animals, and the environment. We can’t pull out of the Paris Agreement!!

* Protect Our Public Schools - the public school system is being dismantled with budget cuts leading to throngs of educators leaving, lack of nutritious school meals, and inequitable treatment of children.

* Mutual aid - support local people! If you need help finding these in your area, I am always free to help.

It’s improbable that the electoral college is dismantled with the current legislative branch. And there isn’t a leader that is ready to tie the left together yet. “And there are concepts and options we have to do that. And you will be hearing about it in the not too distant future.” 😌

Kaia, MSW 🎓

With all the roleplaying and reading aloud I did with her, she earned this too!!

I graduated Friday! I start as a social worker & mental health clinician in September ✨ I’m a big proponent of chasing happiness & starting over — even as you grow older, because you’re going to get older anyway!

Our caps say “I’ll remember you all in therapy” and “idk, I didn’t think I’d make it this far”

Ryuu’s Great Escape 7/11/26

We were in Vancouver for a wedding, so we booked an Airbnb on the Westside near W 33rd. In the morning, both dogs left the bedroom. Kaia greeted my mom while Ryuu quietly slipped down the stairs. Unbeknownst to me, one of the other tenants left the back door open which meant Ryuu snuck outside and straight out their open gate.

Immediate panic. I ran around the close vicinity before running back up the stairs to tell everyone Ryuu was missing. Kaia had to stay at the Airbnb while the rest of us went by foot and car to try to find him.

We called local vets, animal control, the SPCA. At some point, I made posts on missing dog groups on Facebook and posted on Instagram.

Facebook posts were the most beneficial — immediately, there was a sighting of him on W 33rd and Arbutus. It seemed like he was headed towards a greenway. Friends and family began searching. Strangers through this group started looking for him.

I’m out by W 49th all turned around because neither of us knows this city at all! But I didn’t think he’d cross traffic. Animal control received a call he was spotted at W 37th and Arbutus. Arbutus is a very busy street surrounded by many quiet neighbourhood roads. He could’ve been anywhere.

Kevin, speaking about his soul dog, says we need to rest. Tell everyone to turn in for now. It’s been five hours and no other sightings were made. But as soon as I walk in the house, I receive a message request on Facebook from someone with a fake name. My immediate thought is “is this a scam?” But I call anyway. He sends a photo of Ryuu. Kevin asks, “is that AI?” But the bump on his eye is there. We scope his Facebook and see he’s a real person.

When we get to Richmond to pick Ryuu up, 20 minutes away, Ryuu is walking with their other dog. He’s so happy to be with someone else. Kevin immediately starts crying, I offer this person any reward. He declines. Ryuu is saddened to have ended his adventure.

No words can express how thankful I am for all of the shares and reposts, but especially the ones who drove out or ran around to try to find him 🥺 we’re so lucky it did not turn for the worst & that he was found relatively quickly! by @whereskaia

Everything for their happiness 🏠

Hey, so it’s been a few months but hey MTV, welcome to our crib!! It’s been such a fun, often stressful, experience being first time home owners. It’s been an even better experience watching the pups get to enjoy all of the hard work, too! Recently, we finished up the fence so now the pups can run around everywhere. There have been so many learning challenges throughout both the buying process and the aftermath of signing your life away. But I’m so grateful for this little life.

Watching the first reactions makes me so warm — the difference in Kaia’s behavior from when we were in the apartment to now was so amazing to see. I’m so glad they play again!

That feeling when you’re driving up the sketchiest gravel road with potholes galore, a steep drop off to the side, hugging the mountain, until the view opens up and you get this to ogle. I love finding dispersed spots — it feels like a reward for all the panicking 💀
