Moontime 🌕 A month and a half ago my mom and I went on a trip like we haven’t been on in years. Our goal was to go out West, find unique glamping locations, only stay in dark sky areas, connect with a natural world and each other. I’m still processing all the memories and photos from that trip and just grateful that we got to spend that time together in such beautiful places and with each other. G on the trip, book the flight, spend time with the people that you love. That is how you can measure a life truly well lived….in treasured moments with treasured humans.

The coolest part of this particular stay is that we got to see one of the largest thunderstorms that has ever been around the Black Hawk, Colorado area and we got to watch it from above the storm, how cool is that? taken in The Nest at Black Hawk by @whereyartcollin

Join us tomorrow!!!

State of the Art” Opening Night
The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery
August 1, 2026
5:30-8:30 p.m.

Art is a human endeavor.
Through discovery and self-expression, we become who we are.
Our lived experiences shape our perspective, and the artist serves as a truth-teller.

Life is art, and art is life.
In the age of AI, the State of the Art is more important than ever.

A computer has never laughed, been heartbroken, or felt loss.

It is through the journey, the highs, the lows, and the process of becoming that we find our voice.

State of the Art celebrates the uniqueness of the human experience through the act of making. The exhibition presents art as a reflection of the ideas, identities, traditions, and cultures shaping this moment in time. taken in The Old No. 77 Hotel by @whereyartcollin

Traded planet Earth for the red rocks of Canyonlands with my mama. Turns out, wandering around Mars together is the best way to slow down and reconnect with yourself and each other. taken in Canyon Lands National Park , Utah by @whereyartcollin

If you ever need a quick reminder of how tiny we actually are, just go outside and look up. We really are just little specks of dust floating around on a rock, and with how insane the world feels at times, that’s kind of comforting. #undercanvasmoab #darkskyzones taken in Under Canvas Moab by @whereyartcollin

It’s been almost a month exactly… but how special it is to get to spend the summer solstice in the middle of the desert with your mama…especially when it’s the first “just us” trip you’ve taken in more than two decades.

We spent the week out in Moab and Canyonlands, surrounding ourselves with endless Other worldly Mars-scape of red rocks, wild heat, and big desert skies.

When you’re a kid, you take time with your parents for granted. When you’re an adult with your own busy life, you realize just how rare and precious a full, uninterrupted week together actually is. We hiked, got covered in red dirt, watched the sun set over the canyons on the longest days of the year, and just talked…definitely not waiting another 20 years for “just us” trips.

More pics to come but if you are thinking about a solo trip with a parent, DO IT…Maybe try the desert in a cooler month, but DO IT!!! #archesnationalpark #arches #utahisrad #lifeonmars taken in Arches National Park by @whereyartcollin

This past weekend, we celebrated 1 year in our Frenchmen location and 6 yrs in business! We wanted to give you a full circle moment on the opening day and share the magic!

@helenamorenola said it best and we are here to preserve New Orleans culture in joy, art, and music!

Thank you to EVERY artist, musician, friend, family member, staff, storyteller, and patron that have come into our lives and this work. We could not do it without you!

What a whirlwind week in Nashville with the best Krewe. Sometimes there are just too many signs and coincidences to ignore, and you end up at all the right places at all the right times with all the right people. Big things are coming…I can feel it. taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @whereyartcollin
