✨ Bodies of Magic | Illumicrate ✨

I don't think I've seen sprayed edges quite like these before! The anatomical heart surrounded by flowers and floating lanterns is such an interesting combination. Definitely not your usual floral edges. 💜

Would you pick up a book for its edges? 👀

The Sweetest Fiend 💜✨

Another gorgeous FairyLoot Romantasy edition for the shelves! 🥹 I love all the little details on this one, especially the stars and music notes.

I haven’t read The Sweetest Fiend by Raven Kennedy yet, but it’s definitely one I’m curious about. And let’s be honest, FairyLoot is making my physical TBR look way too pretty. 😂

Have you read this one yet?

Which one would you pick up first?

How many cross stitch kits have you collected from book boxes? 👀

I’ve somehow ended up with quite a few of them from my subscription boxes, and I still haven’t tried a single one. 🙈

I love anything crafty and spend a lot of time crocheting and knitting, but cross stitch is one thing I’ve never really got into. And yet the kits keep arriving and they’re always so pretty that I don’t want to get rid of them either. 😂

This Rewitched kit came in the September FairyLoot box and maybe it’s finally time to actually open one and give it a try. 🔮📚

How many cross stitch or embroidery kits are currently hiding in your book box collection? And have you actually made any of them? 👀

Anticipated releases | September 28–29 📚✨

Another week, another suspiciously long list of books I suddenly need to read. 😅

There are so many interesting releases coming out over the next two days, and apparently I’m in the mood for absolutely everything — romantic fantasy, vampires, gothic horror, autumn romances and even a slightly chaotic European road trip.

A few I’m especially curious about are The Court of Venus, Florescentia and The Thief and the Traitor Bride. But Pumpkins and Pretending also looks like exactly the kind of cosy autumn romance I could use right now. 🍂

Are any of these already on your TBR? 👀

Long Story Short | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Long Story Short bt @authorkatsingleton follows romance author Josie, who escapes to the Hamptons to work on a manuscript she just can’t seem to get right. Then there’s Tyson, her new neighbour, who starts out as a distraction and somehow ends up becoming the inspiration she was looking for. 📖✨

💭 My thoughts 💭

This was a really fun and comforting romance. It’s cheesy, definitely, but I was completely in the mood for that and ended up having such a good time with it.

Tyson was probably my favourite thing about the book. I’m a sucker for a man who falls first, and he falls HARD. 😂 I loved all the little things he did for Josie, how supportive he was of her writing and how he respected her boundaries without making a big deal out of it.

I also really liked the whole idea of Josie struggling to write a love story while accidentally finding herself in one. Tyson becoming her real-life inspiration was such a cute touch, and their flirting and chemistry made this very easy to fly through. 🔥 And we have Mouse to thank for getting the whole thing started. 🐈

I did find myself wishing there was a little more going on beyond the romance, though. The story is pretty simple and, while I enjoyed Josie and Tyson together, I would have loved to get a bit more depth from both of them. I think that would have made some of the emotional moments hit harder for me.

But overall? I had a lot of fun with this one. Sometimes I don’t need a complicated plot — give me a cosy setting, good chemistry and a man who is completely gone for the FMC and I’m happy. 😂💕

Can we take a moment for these edges? 🤍

The sprayed edges on my Illumicrate edition of A Snake Among Swans are absolutely gorgeous. I love the combination of feathers, florals and the muted gold background — there’s so much detail, but the whole design still feels really elegant.

Do you prefer intricate sprayed edges like these or bold, colourful ones?

One thing I’ll never complain about finding in a book box? Drinkware. 😂

This Red Rising tumbler from the June OwlCrate box is such a pretty addition to my collection. I love the black and red design, and bookish items that I can actually use always get bonus points from me.

That being said… I’m still waiting for mugs to make a proper comeback. 👀 They’re probably my favourite kind of drinkware to get in subscription boxes, and I feel like it’s been forever since we got one!

Until then, though, I’ll happily keep adding tumblers like this to my shelves. ❤️

Do you like getting drinkware in book boxes? And are you team mug, tumbler or travel cup? ☕

✨ Anticipated Releases | September 21 - September 27 ✨

Another week means another batch of new releases to add to our never-ending TBRs. 📚

These are some of the books releasing between September 21–27 that caught my attention — from witchy romances and cosy Christmas mysteries to dark romantasy, vampires, ghosts and some seriously intriguing fantasy worlds. 👀

A few of these have already made their way into the world since yesterday, while the rest are coming later this week!

I think I’m especially curious about A Ghost’s Guide to Haunting a Witch, A Killer for Christmas and Fangs with Benefits — apparently I’m very ready for spooky season. 😂🎃

Which of these would you pick up first? And is there another release this week I should have on my radar?

✨ FINALLY HERE ✨

My June OwlCrate edition of All We Hunger For by Anna Mercier has finally arrived… in September. 😅

I’ve been waiting for this one for what feels like forever, so I’m very happy to finally have it in my hands!

And thankfully, it was worth the wait because this edition is absolutely gorgeous. 🧡 I love the warm orange and black colour palette, all the little details in the artwork, and especially the upside-down composition. It looks so striking!

What’s the longest you’ve ever waited for a book box to arrive?

✨ Anticipated Releases | September 14 - September 20 ✨

There are SO many books coming out September 14–20, but these are the ones that immediately made me stop and read the synopsis.

Doomsdate sounds ridiculously fun. A first date + a zombie apocalypse + forced proximity? I’m very curious to see how that combination works 😂

Blue Jean Summer got me with marriage of convenience and a childhood crush, while Thank You for Remembering has such an interesting premise. Waking up with an entire year missing from your memory and then trying to figure out what happened? Yes please.

Flare sounds perfect for this time of year with the autumn estate setting, childhood crush and mutual pining. 🍂 And The Stargazers is probably one of the most unusual ones on my list — teenage astronauts stranded on a magical planet with fae is not a combination I expected, but I definitely want to read it.

The Sugar Maple Inn looks like pure autumn comfort, and I love the idea that they’re already falling for each other online without knowing who the other person is.

And Red… werewolves, an Alpha MMC, forced proximity and a reluctant protector. I don’t really need much more convincing than that. 😂

There are plenty more in the slides, so swipe through and tell me which one you’d add to your TBR! 👀

FairyLoot Adult ✨

Steelborn by @taylorjlarue has arrived!

I have to admit, this isn’t my favourite FairyLoot cover. I don’t dislike it, but compared to some of their other editions, it just doesn’t quite work for me.

The book itself is a different story though — I’ve seen some really positive ratings, so I’m definitely curious to see what I’ll think of it. 👀

Have you read Steelborn yet? And what do you think of this edition?
