We’re honoured to share with you all the Whimsy September Spotlight Story, My Gym Instructor is Satan by Louise Walton. 👹💪

Louise has an exceptional talent, as evident here, for telling incredibly human stories beneath a mask of humour and absurdity. On the surface we get the tale of a mum whose gym trainer is strikingly devilish. But at its hell-like core, this is a story we can all relate to about the perpetual struggle of overcoming just one more hurdle before things will get better, and then just one hurdle more.

Congratulations, Louise, on writing such a remarkable, absorbing, entertaining and whimsical story! What a treat it is that we get to publish it.

Thank you for following your whim and joining us.

See you Thursday for the next one! 🦙🪶

Whimsy October judging has been startled to life—and what’s this, emerging from the shadows?

The Wandering Library has appeared!

For the next couple of weeks, writers in this month’s Whimsy will be sharing and celebrating their Wholesome Horrors in this spooky, transient space.

Just don’t get too cosy—the Wandering Library is always moving, like a possessed doll when you’re not looking or that power-walking psychopath with his own theme song.

See you on the 28th for results.

In the meantime, early bird entry for Whimsy November is now open. It’s going to be a blast! (Link in bio).

The results for Whimsy September are in! 🦙🪶

Congratulations of the very whimsical variety to our five selected stories sharing the £500 prize pool, and our five honourable mentions joining them in this year’s Whimsy Anthology.

There was fun, there were games, and there was the biggest range of voices in a whimsy contest yet - from absurdist comedies to poignant dramas - and all of them bringing their own special version of whimsy.

The talent of these writers is such a joy to experience: Louise Walton, Robin Storms, Hannah Hopkinson, Jessica Rutland, B.M. Belanger; plus Kimberly Karcz, Caralin Fleet, Caro Robson, J.J. Silkwood, and Tracy Lindstrom! 👏
