Next up in our series of interviews with some of the artists nominated for the @majorminormusicaustralia Australian Children’s Music Awards is the most dynamic of duos - Esther and Maddy aka Whistle & Trick @whistleandtrick

These two have really built a dream team with their perfect pair and quite a few fantastic collaborators along for the fun. You may have seen their creativity in action on their videos that can be seen on the ABC. Their latest album, a dream collection of lullabyes, and the title track, “Chats With the Moon” are nominated for awards this year.

Thank you for talking with us, Whistle & Trick! 🩷🧡 by @whistleandtrick

When you your gig is 9:30am but your flight back to Melb isn’t till 5pm 💛 Was so fun treating this like a little 24 hour holiday and driving along the NSW coast! Not to mention seeing the biggest parade of Kombi Vans AND spotting dolphins! by @whistleandtrick

Wait… A second nomination?! Get ya Jim jams and snuggly toys ready cause our album “Chats with the Moon: Lullabies for Little Ones” has been nominated for ALBUM OF THE YEAR at the 2026 Australian Children’s Music Awards! Big thanks to our producer @colinleadbetter and to our featured guest artists @marlonwilliamssings @leahseniormusic and @angie.who for being a part of the project. We are so proud of this album and really challenged ourselves to create something different from our usual stuff. The songs are close to our hearts as we explored our own emotions as parents doing the bedtime battle and trying to get our kids to sleep, and dove into the kinds of stories, imagery and music that kids might like to experience as they fall asleep.
Big shout out to the other legends nominated for this catagory - your albums have set SUCH a high bar and we are stoked to see such a fabulous variety of quality Australian children’s music being represented!
Go check out the albums from @spaghetticonfettimusic @wearethegumboots @poppy_galactic @pevanandsarah and @juniorburgerband !!! by @whistleandtrick
