I will happily tell you the point was never to become someone new.

Begrudgingly, whilst making you a drink, I will tell you it was to remember who the hell you were before the world got so loud about who you were supposed to be.

There’s a time before your family had opinions. Before your friends had expectations. Before being understood became more important than being honest.

There are things in us that have been waiting a very long time to be followed. Ask me how I know…

Shut up and follow them.

Get curious. Get it wrong. Change your mind. Be humbled. Learn something that rearranges you.

You don’t need everyone you love to understand the road you’re taking. You don’t even need to tell them you’ve been hitchhiking all along.

You just need enough courage to take it.

The journey to get to this moment has been humbling and has left me in a state of righteous perpetual gratitude… to say the least.

Learning about all of the incredible American spirit trumpet mediums who came before me makes me insanely nervous to even step into this realm. But between the dreams, the astral conversations with spirits and having @journey_to_mictlan as a friend and guide, it feels a little easier to grab the reins and hold on.

Revelations from Beneath the Pestle 
The textbook love languages have never resonated with me. They felt less like methods of understanding and more like relational nonnegotiables. They felt more like styrofoam packing peanuts for the intimacy inept. 
Hell, even emblems of a culture eroded by porn addiction and instant gratification. A place where intimacy has been flattened into lust and lust shackled to Sin™.
 Then I saw a meme:
My love language is reminding you of your power. 
And, BOOM. oh God…I felt Old School Blog Whitney coming online again 🤝 
So I sat down and looked at what it is for me and im sure countless others. It’s not chemistry nor appetite. And DEFINITELY not whatever scraps we’ve been trained to mistake for intimacy.

This is attraction through recognition.

Spiritualism has simplified this idea and its practice for me even further.

It has taught me to think about life less as a straightforward, linear progression.

Lately, the threshold is barely there, but the continuity… the acquisition and the unfolding is known.

A couple years ago, I thought it would be fun to go ghost hunting for the first time at a place that felt like it was absolutely oozing with energy. I had NO idea what to expect.

This stretch of Shoal Creek holds layers and layers of history. Indigenous people traveled and lived along this land long before Austin existed, and by the 1800s the area had become a violent edge of the expanding settlement. Near here, a marker commemorates the 1842 killing of settler Gideon White during conflict with the Comanche.

I knew some of the history going in, but I definitely didn’t know what I was doing. 😂

We captured multiple responses that seemed to directly answer questions I was asking in real time?

At the time I was disoriented.

Watching it now, with two more years of mediumship behind me, I notice SO much more. by @whitneydoesmediumship
