I AM WHOLE

After years of quietly working on this very special project, which is truly close to my heart, I am proud to share with you ‘WHOLE by Alexandra Owoo.’

As I explained in my ‘the story behind WHOLE’ post (please see other posts to read more), WHOLE, after my two beautiful boys, is my third love and true soul’s purpose. It is not just a brand or a business but, rather, the precious outcome of trauma, pain, and healing that I have experienced throughout my life.

I feel tremendous gratitude to be able to support and guide you on your own self-love and healing journey while we also discover your soul’s purpose and bring your own vision to life.

I want to say a special thank you to the beautiful people who have helped me bring my vision to life:

Amy @brandmuse.co (branding), who is so warm, empathetic, and talented! She not only understood exactly what I wanted but has also become a dear friend, and I am so thankful to her for everything.

Isabelle & Carly @kliohstudio (web design) have been absolutely incredible. Carly, thank you for being the most beautiful soul with endless patience and love. You have made this process so enjoyable and fun.

Patricia @chinikids who is just so talented and managed to capture the most beautiful photos - I had the best time during my photoshoot with her!

Finally, thank you to everyone who has been there supporting me, encouraging me, and believing in me. I am endlessly grateful to you all and love you dearly!

It’s Friday evening, and tonight I’ve chosen an hour of yin yoga with @carodrake_yoga at @zentrourbanyoga ✨🧘🏽‍♀️ (online for me just makes it more doable - it’s harder to make excuses not to :)

There’s something about slowing down at the end of a busy week, allowing myself to be still, to breathe and to notice how I’m actually feeling.

I love yin yoga because it encourages me to do exactly that. To stop pushing, to soften and to surrender a little more with each posture. It really helps me get out of my head and into my body.

And I’ve come to realise just how much I need these moments. Not because I have to do something good for myself, but because I genuinely enjoy how I feel afterwards.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love going out (from time to time), having fun and spending time with friends. But tonight, this is exactly what I needed.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is listen to ourselves and honour what we need, rather than what we think we should be doing.

What are you doing to restore yourself this weekend?

Have a beautiful weekend!

Love, Ali x

I’ve been reflecting a lot over the past couple of weeks.

I’ve had some really profound experiences, particularly around family, relationships and old wounds that I’ve spent years working through.

It’s been emotional, and at times incredibly painful, but also quite beautiful.

Having been on this journey of healing and self-discovery for many years, much of what’s come up isn’t new to me. They’re patterns I’ve recognised, feelings I’ve explored and things I’ve spent a long time trying to understand.

But there’s something quite different about understanding something and then experiencing it in a way that confirms just how much has shifted within you.

I’ve spent much of my life longing to feel loved, safe, accepted and seen. And I’ve come to understand how those early experiences shaped the way I showed up in relationships. Often putting other people’s needs before my own, feeling responsible for their emotions or giving more of myself than I had the capacity to give.

For a long time, being needed and being loved became intertwined.

And whilst I’ve understood this for years, my recent experiences have brought another layer of awareness.

I’ve been noticing the moments when old patterns present themselves, but I no longer feel the same need to respond as I once would have.

I can recognise someone else’s distress without making it my responsibility. I can care deeply without losing myself in the process.

That doesn’t mean those experiences no longer hurt. They do.

But perhaps the difference is that I’m learning to hold that hurt without abandoning myself in the process.

I’ve also been having incredibly vivid dreams, bringing their own moments of reflection, comfort and understanding.

And through all of this, I’ve been reminded that healing isn’t necessarily about reaching a place where nothing affects us anymore.

Sometimes it’s about returning to something we’ve explored many times before, only to discover that our relationship with it has changed.

And there’s something quite beautiful about recognising that.

I’ll be sharing more about these experiences over on my Substack (Link is in my bio)!

Pomegranates are in season right now, and I love that Ayurveda has been talking about this beautiful fruit for centuries.

The Ashtanga Hridayam is one of the major classical texts of Ayurveda — an ancient Sanskrit text that teaches us about food, digestion, health and how to live in tune with our bodies and nature.

And this is what it says about pomegranate…

Sweet pomegranate is described as balancing all three doshas — Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The doshas are simply Ayurveda’s way of understanding balance in the body and mind.

It’s also particularly helpful for aggravated Pitta, which is associated with heat in the body.

Pomegranate is described as beneficial for the heart, light yet gently unctuous, supportive of appetite and digestion, and grahi — meaning it can help to firm loose stools.

I find it fascinating going back to the classical texts and seeing what they actually say about the foods growing all around us.

There’s something so simple about eating with the seasons and allowing nature to guide us a little more.

Love, Ali x

October 🤎

There’s something about the change into autumn that always makes me want to slow down a little.

Slower mornings. Warmer foods. Earlier nights. More time at home. More time to breathe.

Ayurveda teaches us that as the seasons change, our bodies need us to change with them. Nature doesn’t stay the same all year round, so why do we expect ourselves to?

As we move further into autumn, there’s an invitation to ground ourselves a little more. To favour warmth over cold, nourishment over depletion, rhythm over rushing.

For me, this season is about coming back to the simple things. Nourishing myself properly. Listening to my body. Creating a little more space. And allowing myself to move at a different pace when I need to.

Less forcing. More listening.

A return to rhythm. A return to you.

What is your body asking for more — or less — of this October? Feel free to share in the comments or DM me.

Love & light

I love this quote because the older I get, the more I realise how true it is.

We can all be looking at the exact same thing and see something completely different.

Because we’re not just seeing what’s in front of us. We’re seeing it through everything we’ve lived through. Our experiences, our beliefs, our fears, our wounds, our expectations… all of it comes with us.

I’ve noticed this so much in my own life. There have been things I once saw as rejection that I can now see as redirection. Things I thought were falling apart that, looking back, were actually making space for something else. And situations I was absolutely certain about that I see completely differently now.

The situation didn’t change. I did.

And I think that’s why doing the inner work matters so much. Not because we need to become a different person, but because the more we understand ourselves, the more we can start to recognise what’s actually happening and what belongs to an old story we’re carrying.

Sometimes the biggest shift isn’t in what’s happening around us.

It’s in the way we see it. 🤍

🪬What are you seeing differently now, simply because you’ve changed?

Love & light,

Ali x

I have worked with so many people who want to understand how I meditate and what I actually do. When I explain it, they often say, “But I can’t do that. I can’t switch off my thoughts.” But meditation isn’t about switching off your thoughts. That isn’t the aim, because our minds naturally think.

There are many different types of meditation and many different ways to practise it, but ultimately, this is what I believe meditation is: a way of coming home to yourself. It’s about sitting with everything that’s going on, everything that has happened, and everything you’re fearful or excited about. It’s about noticing your thoughts instead of pushing them away, and gently returning to your breath, your mantra or wherever you have chosen to place your attention.

With time and consistent practice, you begin to see that you can observe your thoughts and feelings without allowing them to control you. You start to discover a place within yourself where you can find peace and quiet. That is the place you are coming home to.

Meditation doesn’t need to be a 30-minute practice. It doesn’t even need to be ten minutes. To begin, it can be just one or three minutes. The point is that you are choosing to sit down and come home to yourself. That is where the magic happens, and little by little, it begins to unfold into the rest of your life.

One of my previous clients, who had never meditated before, shared: “Ali coached me the whole way… Her insight and kindness helped me dive into the world of wellness and meditation. I feel much better thanks to her and will always be grateful.”

If this resonates with you, I’m opening spaces for a three-week Meditation for Beginners offering: one 30-minute session each week for three weeks. You don’t need any previous experience, and you don’t need to know how to quiet your mind. All you need is a willingness to begin.

Send me the word MEDITATION and I’ll send you all the details. Can’t wait to meditate with you.

🌘eclipses are a time to go inwards!

It all started this morning with a profound realisation that it was time to let my mum go. I’ve been holding onto the idea of her in my life so so tightly for so many years, that when she died, I only clung on tighter. This came to light this morning. So I sat in meditation & gently released her so that we can both be free! It was so sad but so beautiful at the same time. They say eclipses can bring up what needs to be released. For me it was all about this. Sometimes you need to be shown what you can’t see, I’m so grateful that this happened for the both of us today.

I hope that you are feeling what needs to be felt, releasing what needs to be released and allowing what you are meant to recieve. You are worthy of it all.

Love always,

Ali x

There will be days when showing up for yourself feels easy… and days when it feels like the hardest thing in the world.

I’m learning that healing isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It isn’t about always feeling motivated, positive or strong.

Sometimes showing up for yourself looks like an hour of yoga, meditation and nourishing food.

And sometimes it looks like getting out of bed, taking a shower, going for a walk, breathing through the discomfort, or simply choosing not to abandon yourself when things feel hard.

I spent so much of my life learning how to survive. Now I’m learning how to stay with myself through all of it.

To listen to my body.
To honour what I need.
To rest when I need to rest.
And to gently move myself forward when I know I’m hiding.

Some days will be harder. Some will be easier.

The important thing is that I keep coming back to myself.

Again and again. 🤍

You don’t have to show up perfectly. You just have to keep showing up.

So much love,

Ali x

There comes a point in healing where you realise that the hardest work isn’t becoming someone new.

It’s remembering who you were before life convinced you that you weren’t enough.

Before the abandonment.
Before the criticism.
Before the rejection.
Before the heartbreak.
Before all the moments that taught you to question your worth.

For years I believed I had to earn love.
Earn acceptance.
Earn belonging.

I thought if I could just be more… quieter, stronger, prettier, more successful, more useful… then maybe I’d finally feel enough.

But healing has shown me something completely different.

Nothing outside of us can give us the worth we already carry within.

Meditation has taught me to sit beneath all the noise.
Yoga has taught me to come home to my body.
Grief has taught me what truly matters.
And every step of my journey has reminded me that the version of me I’ve been searching for was never missing.

She was simply buried beneath fear, conditioning and survival.

You don’t need to become enough.

You already are.

Your only job now is to remember… and have the courage to live as the person you’ve always been.

Because all we ever truly have is this moment.

✨ If this spoke to you, save it for the days you forget.

Love always,

Ali x
