Ribbon cutting ceremony for City Interactive Wayfinding Kiosks. 30 active around Charlotte now, expanding to 130 kiosks soon. A big thanks to Smart City and Orange Barrel Media for including my art in the initial 6 months of the program.

The Center for Visual Artists is proud to announce the opening of one of its most exciting exhibitions of the year, Scaled UP, a captivating showcase of larger-than-life artworks that promise to transform the way we engage with visual art. This show brings together an array of oversized works, each measuring greater than 36x48 inches creating an immersive, awe-inspiring experience for our community. My six foot tall drawing is part of the exhibit.

“My art is rooted in a love for the natural environment, and our intimate but often unconscious relationship with it. My ongoing observation amidst natural landscapes allows me to center my practice on honoring and protecting the world, while simultaneously paying homage to the beauty it provides.

My fascination with trees lies in my belief that trees are individual living beings with personalities and stories to tell. Bringing those stories into daily consciousness is at the heart of my creative process. By centering on the interaction between the texture of the bark, the natural design of the limbs and the depiction of scars left by time and weather, I can achieve an asymmetrical balance that stimulates our minds and invites us to develop a more personal relationship with trees—leading to greater understanding of their importance in the ecosystem and the spiritual place they hold in the world.

I received a BFA and MBA from the University of Georgia then spent six years as an officer in the US Army. My work has been shown in numerous galleries and community exhibitions; my participation in the 2018 group exhibition Vicarious received critical acclaim from the New York Times.”

MOVED TO THE FALL! Date to be determined. Sketch and Hike at Forney Creek Trail

Calling all outdoor loving artists! Join local artist Wil Bosbyshell and the Carolina Thread Trail for a fun, nature-inspired sketching hike at Forney Creek Trail in Lincoln County, NC on Saturday, June 6 for National Trails Day sponsored by @townebanksocial.

Attendees will meet at the trailhead parking lot, then hike to a suspension bridge approx. 0.1 miles down the trail. The program will start with a quick sketching demonstration followed by free time to create your own artwork. All necessary sketching materials will be provided, and you will get to keep your sketchbook at the end of the program.

Cost: $25 adult / children 12 and under are free

I was transported in Space and time to a Spanish Patio through the amazing time machine of the Metropolitan Museum! The shadows from the sculptures! This Spanish patio cut by Italian stone workers inspired by Rome.
