Closing out another successful and challenging year in the garden. Crazy how just a few months ago we were starting our seeds, making plans and wishing for harvest season. Now after months of work weeding, watering and defending each plant from bugs were coming to the end. This season we’ve canned over 40 jars of tomato sauce, hot sauce and fruit jam, harvested over 100 potatoes, saved oh so many seeds and started to prepare our soil for next year. As life becomes a rollercoaster I find great solace and peace within the garden. Now starts the planning for next year šŸ’

If you’d like to start growing your own food please reach out. I’ll happily be a resource.

Thank you @chronogram for featuring our little corner of the world in their October issue. Building an intentional life has been such a wonderfully slow ever evolving and growing journey. It has been such a pleasure sharing it with all of you.

Special thanks to @shelterupstate for being such a stellar photographer. Winona had such a wonderful vision and was so easy to work with. Really helped me relax into the moment.

So grateful to @mary.angeles.armstrong for not only writing a beautiful article but helping me to understand my art practice even more.

Thank you to @kris.cali for the video. I have yet to grab my own copy but seeing it through a friend’s eyes is priceless. by @wildbowerstudio

With deep sadness we sad goodbye to our beloved studio cat and family member, Fear aka Fifi. She had been by my side for over 10 years so this is very hard news to share. Cat cat (another beloved cat who left us too soon - see the fifth photo of them rolling around) brought her to our yard one day and that was it. She was one of us. Joining us in Brooklyn she became a crowd fav in my community pottery studio even though she did not want to be looked at lol. Little did we know she was about to give birth to a litter of 5 kittens on our back porch (scroll to see her set up). Then in 2019 she begrudgingly (how do i know? She pooped and peed on me lol) took the trip up north to our home in Mountaindale. The fourth photo shows her early on in her upstate journey getting used to the new studio. I’m so glad we brought her. Being upstate with all this space she became free to wander, hunt, explore and just be the funny little cat that she was. Her days consisted of rolling in the dirt, climbing fences, fighting with jeffrey and cuddling with me. I’m so grateful to have known her and to have gained her trust.

Thank you to everyone who loved her. šŸ’• by @wildbowerstudio

wild bower began about 10 years ago. Over the course of a decade my practice, studio and even its name has grown and changed. You’ve probably noticed that it’s been quite difficult for me to post here. Part of it’s the ever changing demands of the algo and the other part is due to my personal life. Besides my own struggles, one of my parents was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a little over a year ago. It’s been a crazy ride but I’ll go into that journey another time. what I’ve been realizing is that my art practice is not restricted to just the studio. It comes with me wherever I go because it’s part of who I am. Rather than retreating into my isolation silo wondering if any of its good enough or niche enough I’d like to share myself as a whole - The artist, the gardener, the chef & baker, the sewist, the athlete, the partner, the daughter, the caretaker… and so much more because we as humans are vastly deep and adaptable. Maybe you’ll see yourself in some of what I post or maybe you’ll be inspired to try something new. Either way I’m giving myself permission to just share. taken in Mountain Dale, New York by @wildbowerstudio

Real pinch me moments over here. So grateful to see my piece ā€œhomeā€ at @armyoffrogsstudio

It’s been resting in this space for a little over a month which has allowed for nature to do its thing. šŸ˜ what an amazing experience taken in Army Of Frogs Studio by @wildbowerstudio

Happy Upstate Art Weekend! I’m so thrilled to announce that my artwork will be on view at 3 locations! It’s been a wild year of side quests and one of my goals was to exhibit my work more often. I’m so thankful for my work to be included amongst such incredible groups of artists. Please add these locations to your list of must see shows. I’ll be out and about on Saturday so if you see me please stop and say Hi!! šŸ‘‹

This big beautiful plate had a bit of a mishap when bisque firing so I threw it in pit fire to see what magic could be created. The bottom of the plate had blown out most likely because I couldn’t wait for it to dry lol. Since it wouldn’t sit flat I had a vision of it being hung on the wall. Luckily our friend @studioglagola was up for the challenge of how to mount this piece. We went back and forth deciding which type of wood to use until landing on a stunning piece of white ash that John had salvaged from his neighborhood. We played around until finding the perfect shape and depth. John really took my vision to another level. So thankful for his help. now to figure out where to hang this baby 🄳
