The fourth away day of the month…this time with a local business consultancy called Phoenix.

They joined us at midday for a farmer-led stroll across the local landscape to arrive to a three course lunch at our secret woodland tipi on the re-wilding area of the ancient Hatch Park Estate.

After feasting on hyper local wild shot venison and salads we had a wonderful alcohol free cocktail making session with @themidnightmuddler and a fun team activity after.

How can you re-wild yourself from the inside out?

This month, @WilderWork forager Michael White on @rural_courses is embarking on an extraordinary challenge: eating only wild food for three months as part of the Wild Biome Project.

In 2020, ethnobotanists Monica Wilde and Matt Rooney spent a full year eating only wild food in Scotland. The results? Astounding. Matt’s Type 2 diabetes reversed, and their gut microbiomes flourished. This sparked a groundbreaking international study exploring how a truly wild diet affects metabolic health, inflammation, and overall well-being.Michael is now one of 120 participants, with scientists at the University of Bradford (UK) and the University of Rzeszów (Poland) conducting tests before, during, and after his wild-food-only month.

His results will contribute to research on:

🔬 Microbiome health and diversity
💪 Blood sugar, inflammation, and metabolic function
🌾 How wild diets affect food intolerances (including gluten!)

Last year we welcomed over 25 different agencies and tech companies onto Wilder Work biodiversity restoration sites across Kent.

The impact the Wilder Work Days had on the teams and sites is still being felt - leaders report that their teams are thinking more strategically, communicating more honestly and feeling more resilient.

And the sites are investing the revenue our events generated into increasing bio-diversity - building more wildlife ponds and starting to mob-graze previously extractively farmed land.

This restorative cycle is set to continue with many companies re-booking our venues, chefs, farmers and coaches for their strategic off-sites and summer socials this year. by @wilder.work

It’s Christmas 🤶 parties for agencies time and that means getting out and meeting lots of folk to take on Wilder Work days throughout the season.

The wildest of the lot is probably Podge Digital - 389 agency owners in one room.

Luckily I got sat next to one non-drinking former botanist surfer, who unsurprisingly, like me would rather be outside. We all had a great day and survived into the night…and met lots of potential wilder workers for next year.
