Meet the Vedda people. One of Sri Lanka's last remaining indigenous communities, the 'forest dwellers' are empowering their young people and reconnecting with their heritage through education.

Scattered across the Hunnasgiriya hills, it’s thought that they make up less than 1% of Sri Lanka’s population. But the tribe is slowly reclaiming its heritage and returning to its roots, with indigenous classes teaching younger generations about their culture and ancestors.

On our Sri Lanka: Hidden Treasures of the Sacred Island tour, you'll meet a local chief who will share the Vedda people's storied past on a village walk.

Check out the full itinerary of our Sri Lanka tour via the link in our bio.

Georgia is a country where sharing food is part of the adventure — and for vegetarians, there's plenty to discover. 🇬🇪

Our Operations Manager, Olivia, recently joined our Georgia: From Wine Country to the Svaneti Highlands tour. Visiting a country as a vegetarian raises questions about whether there will be enough options, but she knew she had nothing to worry about.

“Before travelling to Georgia, I knew I would have plenty to eat as a vegetarian — but I hadn't quite appreciated just how much variety there would be.“

Read all about the delicious vegetarian dishes that Olivia tasted on our Georgia: From Wine Country to the Svaneti Highlands tour in her recent blog via the link in our bio⬆

Namibia is considered one of the most arid countries in Sub Saharan Africa, so it might be surprising that it’s home to wildlife that has specifically adapted to live in such conditions, such as black rhinos and African elephants.🐘

The elephants and black rhinos that live here aren’t different species from those found elsewhere in Africa, but they have developed some unique behaviours that help them survive in such dry conditions. These elephants can travel up to 70km a day between water sources, relying on their knowledge of the landscape to locate water and food.

Black rhinos can obtain much of the moisture they need from the plants they eat and are well adapted to life in Namibia’s arid landscapes. Damaraland is home to significant free-roaming populations of elephants and black rhinos that live outside national parks.

Today is World Tourism Day!

For us, tourism goes far beyond visiting a place and coming home with some nice photos. When we have the privilege of travelling, there’s an opportunity to care for the people, cultures and ecosystems we find there. To provide economic opportunities for rural communities, helping them preserve ways of life that have endured for centuries. And to nurture meaningful relationships with the people who call these places home, such as the Kalash in the northern valleys of Pakistan.

Of course, we believe this is mutually beneficial for our travellers, too. We know they travel to learn, to connect and to discover places beyond the usual. And that doesn’t always happen when you’re following the crowd, ticking off the same curated sites or treading the same well-worn route.

Most travellers start there in some capacity. But it’s never too late, and it’s never been easier, to choose differently.

To look beyond the expected. To meet the people who make a place what it is. To travel with curiosity, care and an open mind.

Because the way we travel matters. And when enough of us make small changes, those choices can add up to something much bigger.

“For travellers looking to combine culture and food with genuine time outdoors, Georgia ticks a lot of boxes. Visitor numbers have risen considerably in recent years, and beautiful restaurants, boutique hotels and guesthouses are appearing across the country. Yet despite this growing accessibility, there is still a corner of Georgia where reaching your destination remains very much part of the adventure.

That place is Tusheti.”

Our tailor-made expert, Kenny, recently visited Tusheti in Georgia, a remote region of Georgia that sees a fraction of visitors. The area is only open to visitors for a few months out of the year due to accessibility, but when it’s open, it’s worth every second of the journey to reach.

Find out more about why you should visit Tusheti in Kenny’s blog via the link in our bio⬆

As fashion week begins and new trends emerge, we wanted to look back around the world at different traditional clothes. Many forget that, for centuries, fashion was a way to represent people; it offered insight not only into their cultural background but also a quick way to decipher important information about a person's identity.

From the significance of a Georgian papakha to the Kente cloth in Ghana, our newest blog explores six countries and their traditional attire.
