ELK HUNT UPDATE

I'm cow elk hunting in Wyoming's Bighorn Mountains, and so far, I haven't laid eyes on a single elk.

But I've watched the sun rise over the mountains, breathed in the cold October air at 7,500 feet of elevation, and followed a creek for three miles as it tumbled over rocks and wound its way through the wilderness.

That creek was the only one to have a conversation with during this solo hunting trip. But it seemed to be telling me: Follow my example and keep moving. Take the obstacles as they come. And enjoy being out here.

That's the beauty of hunting public land. There are no guarantees. No shortcuts. Just miles on the mountains, sore legs, and the hope that somewhere over the next ridge, an opportunity might be waiting.

Hunting in this beautiful national forest gives me the limitless freedom to explore, and the privilege of having wild places where we can still get lost for a little while.

These public lands belong to all of us. And they're worth protecting for the generations who will follow in our footsteps.

The NEW Wild Game & Fish Cookbook is full of kid-friendly recipes that were all tested and approved by my wife and our 11-year-old daughter.

My goal for this cookbook was to give busy parents like me the gift of having a collection of wild game & fish recipes that are both delicious and something the whole family can enjoy, as well as dishes you can get on the table in 30 minutes or less, or put in the slow cooker and have it ready for the dinner table after a crazy day of trying to survive parenthood.

The cookbook includes:
● Venison recipes
● Upland Bird recipes
● Waterfowl recipes
● Fish recipes

The NEW Wild Game & Fish Cookbook includes lots of great pheasant recipes. But we also take time to celebrate how special pheasant hunting is here in North Dakota, and the great people who call North Dakota home. That includes the amazing women of the Pheasants Forever Chapter of @ladybirdspf

I'm especially proud to pair my pheasant recipes with the beautiful wildlife photography of @stuff.seth.sees whose images capture the beauty of upland birds here in North Dakota.

Inside the cookbook, you'll find simple, approachable, flavorful recipes that will help you turn your venison, waterfowl, fish, and upland birds into meals worth remembering.

The Wild Game & Fish Cookbook is now available for pre-order. Order your copy today by clicking on the link in the bio @wildgameandfish

You'll love this collection of weeknight recipes including trusted family and reader favorites and lots of exciting new dishes.

All of the recipes and food photography was done by me, and all of the amazing wildlife photography was provided by my friend @stuff.seth.sees
