How many diet culture messages have we heard so often that they start to feel like facts? 👀

But where do these ideas come from? And why are we so used to hearing them?

Thinking about ourselves often breeds anxiety.

The more we look in, the more we examine, the more we ruminate, the more we judge and critique.

The solution however is not simple - we cannot simply tell ourselves to not think about ourselves, it will drive us to further misery.

Instead propose to direct your attention outwardly. This is often why responsibility in life directs meaning and brings people out of a slump because they are no longer internally focused. by @willcolgrave

Every pause, rewatch, and interaction can influence what the algorithm shows you next. And when the same types of content keep appearing, they can start to feel much more common than they actually are.

Your feed isn’t showing you the whole world, it’s showing you more of what it thinks will hold your attention!

Your feed isn’t as random as it might seem.

Social media learns what keeps your attention - and serves you more of it. That’s why it’s so important to be mindful of what you’re consuming online. If something is making you feel worse about yourself, your body or your relationship with food, it might be time to take back a little control of your feed.

We often get so good at repeating procedures for common problems that when a new problem arises we fail to notice and employ the same procedure.

This is called blind specialisation.

We see this so commonly in repetitive practices. Missing the wood for the trees.

Sometimes we need new eyes or fresh perspective to these problems to ensure we employ the right procedure.
