You know you are home when you step into @singaporeair especially if you have been away for a long time. Not many know that I worked 4.5 years with SQ (as legal counsel) and have always loved our national carrier - over the years you may have seen me post horror photos of the food served on board 😓 deep down we are all incredibly proud of our national carrier. This flight (SQ11 on 13 January 24) reminded me why this is a great airline, it’s the cabin crew (yes the hardware is important too but many other airlines have also caught up). The warm hospitality that goes beyond what you expect, to me was what always set SQ apart. And on this flight I am reminded of the “service that other airlines talk about” Special shout out to LS Jane Wee CS Jack & IFS Jeremiah who made the flight exceptional. It truly was an escape from the city. @casazii is such a beautiful space within walking distance to the world famous beach. Between 4 adults & 3 kids we stayed in 2 units complete with pools & kitchens (not that we needed to cook since the awesome taco stand was nearby). #puertoescondidooaxaca #oaxaca #méxico #chalet taken in Puerto Escondido by @willcookwilleat

If your elderly parents are open to travel you should definitely do so with them, if they aren’t open to it but are still physically capable of travel (or with assistance) try to understand what the concerns are (eg. what if I am tired? What if I need a toilet ? Food? Weather ?) perhaps it’s bec of culture or it’s just their generation; my mom won’t normally tell me her concerns, she will just say “no” so I had to give educated guesses and offer solutions “we will bring a wheel chair” “we are staying in an Air B&B so we can all chill in the living room” “the weather will be perfect just like air con” etc etc. hoping she will change her mind. And she did 5 years ago (she was fearful that she might keep needing the toilet mid flight - solution we will sit near the toilet) since then we travel at least once a year and I use that as motivation for her daily morning walks. We also had such a blast - as long as you accept that the trip revolves around them you won’t be disappointed you didn’t get to do this or that. Save your to do list for your own trip next time. by @willcookwilleat

This was easily the highlight of my visit to Queenstown this time.

We first visited @kahiwiwines three years ago, when it was still very much a baby. Even then, based on what we saw and tasted, @vinopothamus was already very excited about where it was headed.

He was right.

If you ever come across a bottle, buy it. Or better still, buy six. Don’t let it slip by. taken in Otago Peninsula, New Zealand by @willcookwilleat

It was surreal. We released the 2 sail fish we caught but sadly 1 didn’t survive as the hook had caught its eye. It is the first time I caught my own meal and see such a large living thing die in my presence. It was humbling & I learnt how important it is to not prolong suffering & not to waste food as a creature lost its life for our consumption. #deepseafishing #sailfish #fishing #méxico taken in Puerto Escondido by @willcookwilleat
