Inchelium Red Certified Organic Garlic Bulbs for Your Garden | Jumbo Size

Plant a few cloves this fall and look forward to homegrown garlic next summer! These jumbo certified organic Inchelium Red bulbs are ready for planting in your garden or raised beds.

Inchelium Red is an heirloom, artichoke-type softneck garlic known for its large bulbs, rich flavor, and good storage qualities. Its mild, balanced garlic flavor has a touch of heat that develops during storage. Delicious roasted, sautéed, or used in everyday cooking, this variety is a good choice for Southern gardens.

What to expect

Approximately 12–20 cloves per bulb, with about 16 as a planning estimate - 2 bulbs per 1/4 lb. Actual clove counts and sizes vary.

Layered cloves with larger cloves around the outside and smaller cloves toward the center.

Soft, flexible stems suitable for braiding after harvest.
Good keeping quality when properly cured and stored.
Jumbo planting bulbs give you substantial cloves to start with. Your harvested bulb size will depend on soil, spacing, weather, and care.

Create Your Own Honey Self-Care Ritual
Saturday, December 12, 2026
10AM to Noon

Join Anne Marie Katalenas of The Giddy Bee, a Level 1 Honey Sommelier with the American Honey Tasting Society for this unique workshop!

Create Your Own Honey Self-Care Ritual is a hands-on, honeybee-inspired self-care workshop where you explore the connection between honey, beeswax, botanicals, scent, and simple everyday rituals. Designed to feel sensory, creative, approachable, and elevated, the experience blends light honey education with guided product making — no prior experience required.

The experience begins with a short guided honey tasting, where you sample a selection of honeys and choose your favorite to transform into a custom botanical honey infusion to take home. From there, you will continue to build a personalized take home ritual by creating a honey and herb sugar scrub and a beeswax lotion candle, selecting botanicals and scent combinations that complement their chosen mood.

You will leave with three handmade products and simple guidance for incorporating them into an everyday ritual at home.

More than a traditional craft class, this experience is designed as an opportunity to slow down, create something meaningful, learn about ingredients from the hive and garden, and leave with products that can become part of an everyday self-care ritual. by @windcrestnc

I brought home wonderful memories from Scotland and one souvenir I could have done without: a case of what I’m calling “airplane flu.”Good thing I have my own “farmacy.”

Today’s harvest is fresh eucalyptus, with beautiful silvery-blue leaves and that unmistakable fragrance. A bunch is headed for my shower, where I’ll enjoy the scent and warm steam while I’m feeling congested. A little comfort from something I grew myself.

Want a freshly cut bunch of your own? Enjoy it in the shower, arrange it in a vase, or add it to a fall bouquet. Order at windcrestorganics.com under Produce & Local Provisions.

And if you’d like to grow your own, eucalyptus plants are available in the Windcrest Farm Garden Center. by @windcrestnc

Your garden is already packing seeds for next season. Do you know when to collect them?

Look closely at this garlic chive seed head. Those black seeds peeking out of their papery pods are a harvest of their own. And with green pods still in the mix, you can see why seed saving takes a little observation and good timing.

Before you reach for the pruners and tidy everything away, learn to spot what’s worth saving!

Join me this Saturday, October 3, at Windcrest Farm for our Seed Saving Class. We’ll talk about recognizing ready-to-harvest seeds, collecting and storing them, and giving next season’s garden a start with this season’s abundance.

After more than 22 years of growing organically, I still find something deeply satisfying about a handful of seeds I grew myself. I’d love to share that with you.

Reserve your spot at windcrestorganics.com.

How far can one farmer wander? About 3,800 miles, apparently.

On Wednesday, September 16, here I was at John o' Groats, on the far northeastern edge of mainland Scotland, waiting to continue my journey by ferry across the Pentland Firth to the Orkney Islands.

John o' Groats is famous as one end of the traditional journey across the length of mainland Britain. And although standing here looking north certainly felt as though I was getting close to the top of the world, John o' Groats is still roughly 550 miles south of the Arctic Circle.

The signpost helped put the distance into perspective: New York 3,230 miles. Land's End 874 miles. Orkney 8 miles. Shetland 152 miles. And somewhere about 3,800 miles away was Windcrest Farm in Monroe, North Carolina.

From John o' Groats we boarded the ferry and headed north across the Pentland Firth toward Orkney, where an entirely different landscape and thousands of years of human history were waiting.

There was something wonderful about making that final stretch by water rather than simply flying there. Mainland Scotland disappeared behind us while Orkney became our destination.

For someone whose life has been rooted to the same piece of North Carolina soil for decades, standing here was a pretty remarkable reminder of just how big the world is. Windcrest Farm was a long way from John o' Groats. But I wasn't finished heading north yet. More to come! by @windcrestnc

Tomorrow Night - Successful Gardener - September 3rd 2026 @ 7 PM FREE presentation: Preparing the Garden for What Comes Next.

Mary Roberts, Windcrest Farm, will lead us through a discussion on the change from summer to fall in one of the busiest and most useful transition periods in the garden. While summer crops are still being produced, gardeners must decide what to keep, what to remove, what to propagate, and what to plant for the cooler months ahead. In this class, we will walk through the seasonal tasks that help a garden continue producing through fall and winter while preparing the soil, plants, and gardener for next spring.
