Making waves in purple…

Last night we took on our first coached open water session at Ham Lake!

25 swimmers, 5 coaches on paddleboards, 1 in the water, and plenty of purple caps as Dave put us through our paces with sighting, drafting and deep-water race starts, before practising some loops of the lake.

A brilliant first session, enjoyed by all… and very happily finished with some banana bread.

These (Wind)milers took on the @herculeswimbledon Dave Clarke Mile last night!

A brilliant evening of racing and support, with 8 PBs, a lot of heat wins and second-place finishes. Fast times, great competition and a lot of team support. (Plus epic array of shoe colours here!)

We’re well into track season now, and it’s fantastic to see so many members testing themselves over the mile. Here’s to more summer racing!

We had an epic time at the inaugural @ranelaghharriers Sunset Sprint 3k event last night. Summer’s evening, beautiful setting, fun and different distance with a lot of PBs. Plus, music, pizza, beer afterwards. Brilliantly organised and a great event.

Congrats to our fastest Windmilers Ed and Roz 👏

And just look at these photos…! Thanks for hosting that @ranelaghharriers 🎉.

These four Windmilers started this morning as runners, and have finished as Comrades!

The South African Ultramarathon was 86km from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, an “up” year. Super impressive from these 4, with debuts from Dan and Chris, and PBs for Pippa and Richard (with a silver medal* again). Well done all, we’re so proud! 👏

Last month, 17 Windmilers headed off to Lanzarote for a tri training camp—and what a week it was. Glorious weather (and not too windy… for Lanzarote 👀), plenty of miles, and a lot of laughs.

With an average of 2km swims every day, followed by 80km rides (usually with 1000m of climbing 🙃), it only made sense that the runs were to the ice cream shop.

A tough week of training, but the best kind—nothing bonds a group like a bit of shared suffering 😂.

Now… bring on the summer triathlon season! by @windmilers

Wednesday’s swim scenes.

A typical session: warm up, skills and drills (sometimes with toys), main set then swim down.
It sounds simple, but it’s an endurance session so a brilliant, tough workout. We offer block bookings and PAYG slots which do go quickly!

Your Surrey XC Div 3 CHAMPIONS 🏆
How it went ⬇️

25 of us ran through knee-deep puddles and some terrible mud, bringing home the victory with 124 points (1 less than the incredible performance at Oxshott) including 6 in the top 10! We close out this season with a club record-setting 590 points! Well done to our scorers on the day - Harald, Chris, Sam, Ed, Dave, James, Harry, Richard, Simon and Jon.

Thanks to all 47 who ran for the men’s team this season and to everyone who supported! Special shoutout to Sam, David and Chris finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the overall standings. Div 2, see you soon!

What an exciting final fixture for our XC teams.

Let’s start with the women…

We went into the final fixture in 5th place in Division 2. Only 20 points from 3rd (top 3 teams get promoted to Div 1), a couple of points to 4th. With on-and-off rain and an absolute mud-fest for the race, the women showed up. Our first finisher, Esther, came 3rd overall in div 2 and with Amedea, Julia, Ella and Lizzie also scoring. Well done to the 19 who ran (extra kudos for those going through the puddles) and thank you to those who supported. Caroline F also secured 3rd place in her age category over the season!

So with that performance. Did we do it?

We came JOINT 3rd! But the team with the lowest points on the day were promoted, which wasn’t us. But we’re not too sad about it 😁. Thanks to everyone who ran/supported this season! Bring on next season!

Great number out this morning getting their Sunday long run fix.

And this is just 3 of the many different groups that go from here, at different paces and doing different distances.

TOMORROW: the final showdown!

In the spiritual home of cross country - Lloyd Park - both our men’s and women’s teams are taking on a very muddy 8km as we close out the 25/26 season.

For the women’s team - just 20 points off promotion, breathing down the necks of the team ahead (difference of a few points!).
For the men’s team - top of the division and hunting the title! Get the champagne ready…

Forecast? Rain.
Muddy? Extremely. And then some.
Would we have it any other way? Never.

What Division 3 domination looks like…

5 Windmilers in the top ten, a 2nd and 3rd finish overall and top of the table for the men’s team! Bravo!

What a beautiful day to kick off the Surrey XC season! A great turnout for both our men’s and women’s teams, where we both raced in Richmond Park.

In the women’s race, we had 4 XC debutants (Yoon, Emily, Emilie and Deborah), and our scorers were Amedea, Emily, Ella, Lizzie and Kate. We’ve stayed in Division 2 and gave a solid performance to be mid of the table. Well done to Amedea for coming in the top 10!

In the men’s race, we had the top A and B teams and the biggest turnout! Our scorers were Sam, David S, Chris, Jared, Harry S, Jon, Harry C, Simon B, Laurent and Simon W. Shoutout to Sam who came 4th overall! It was an exciting finish with only 18 seconds separating our 5th to 10th scorer! Great start to Division 3.

Thanks to all our supporters (and bakers!) too! Bring on November.
