New chair! Definitely English in style, but not a copy. Aiming for a lighter weight chair than my recent designs. This is an easy little finger lift!
It’ll be painted, but have not yet decided on colour. Any ideas?

Had this lovely group of people over from Nantucket Island to make one of ‘their chairs’. Only the side stretchers are glued and all the parts are now wrapped up to the trip across the Atlantic to be assembled and painted at home. They all did a great job and I’m sure the completed chairs will be superb!

It works! This is the final video in this small series about a new bending jig. All went well and I got two excellent ash bends. They had 28 minutes in the steam. Note the cold wet towel to take out some heat quickly.

New bending ready to be fixed to a wall and hopefully tested tomorrow. The rope and jam cleat should hold the bend in place while battens are screwed on to fix it while drying. 🤞🤞🤞#chairmakingcourses #chairmaking #windsorchair taken in The Windsor Workshop by @windsorworkshop

After a two month break we began a 3-day Crescent chair course today and started by bending the crest. It was 25mm thick English ash and had 35 minutes in the steam. This was the fourth of eight and everyone was starting to work like a team. At the end you will see it dunked into cold water to remove the heat and stiffen the wood. We had no failures today, which was great news!
