@champagnelaurentperrier Grand Siècle Grande Cuvée. Perfect everyday picnic bubbles....kiddingggg (I wish!). I am lucky to have a nice friend who shared this delicious bottle with me - one of my favorites, and I adore the 17th century replica bottle that it comes in (Grand Siècle refers to the Great Century of Louis XIV). If you're looking for a special bottle of champagne (~$200), this is the one 😍. It's been a crappy year so far but this makes it more tolerable! 🤪

If it weren't for this pandemic, we'd be travelling right now for sure. Into another country, or else right here in our own BC wine country 💕. This was last year, in the Okanagan, on the beach, sipping on some local BC rosé ciders from @mofruitsecco and @maverick.winery. .

The rosé Prosecco from @mofruitsecco made by @bctfcider, which is a blend of local apples, cherries and soda water. It's 4.8% alcohol, super refreshing, dry, and delicious! Only 110 calories per can as well. The @maverick.winery Blush cider is a blend of Braeburn and Granny Smith apples and a touch of Maverick winery's estate Pinot Noir. It's 5.5% alcohol. Both equally delicious 😍.

This pic was from a party at @joeywineroom last year. I don't anticipate socializing like this for awhile, so it's nice to see @joeyrestaurants sending the party home by offering DIY meal and cocktail kits, and 50% off wine including some great bottles of BC Wine, like the @bluemtnwinery Brut, @paintedrockwine Syrah, @hatchwines Screaming Frenzy Meritage, @lfngwine portfolio, @stoneboatvineyards Pinot Noir, @mfvwines Chardonnay, among other favorites. Came across another prehistoric photo. Remember these things 🎫💼✈️? I can't believe I miss airports (and airport wine 🤪), but here we are. .

While travelling and winery visits are on pause, it's nice to know we can still fill some of those voids with virtual tastings. Some local BC virtual wine tastings that are happening include: @blackmarketwineco 's weekly IG live virtual tastings (Thursday nights), @kismetwines and @okcrushpad who are both offering private virtual tastings with the purchase of tasting sets, and @uncorkthesun who are doing monthly Facebook live virtual tastings of Oliver/Osoyoos wines. Happy Sauvignon Blanc day! Glad to hear today is different than every other groundhog-esque day lately, even if it's just a made up holiday 😆 I'll take it! Usually we're drinking BC Wine, but thought we should give a shout out today to the champions of Sauv Blanc, New Zealand. Marlborough's first Sauv Blanc vines were planted in 1973, and it is now NZ's most widely planted grape. We'll cheers to that 🥂

We are drinking a bottle from @babichwines - a 100 year old, 3 generation family winery, with the first sustainable vineyard in NZ. This is a refreshing, classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc produced in a "fuller, riper, softer style". We are snacking on some @hippiesnacksorganic cauliflower crisps, which are a great little plant-based, non-gmo, gluten-free snack from a local (Burnaby BC!) company #SupportLocal. Just came across this Vancouver website - www.howbsy.com - which relies on crowd sourcing to let you know how busy local grocery stores, pharmacies, (wine stores 🤪), etc. are in case you have to go out. This is a great tool to help with social distancing. Also just read about a BC web developer who is working on a free food delivery app to help keep local restaurants running. Love seeing how people are using technology to adapt to the times and help people out. Does anyone have any other cool stories they've come across? .

Posting this vintage photo of friends gathering at a restaurant, circa 2019 BC (Before Corona). It's also much nicer than a photo of me solo having wine and chips for dinner in my sweatpants 🤪. Who recognizes this view and can name this Vancouver restaurant? Hint: these sweeping views of the city are a result of this restaurant being perched atop Little Mountain, a volcanic formation in the centre of the city, 500 feet above sea level. Can't remember what we were drinking here, but all bets on it being some #BCWine 💕

We had a virtual wine get together last night, in an effort to social distance. It was great to connect with other humans who aren't the ones that we are couped up with 24/7 (🥴😂), and Zoom worked great for video conferencing with multiple people. The basic version is free with a 40 minute maximum (but we talked for 3 hours, just had to keep starting new sessions! Does anyone have other video conferencing recommendations?) Will do another post on the wines we were drinking - lots of local BC wines in the mix. Going to be making some more orders soon to stock up on and support our small, local wineries. In the meantime, hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there through these crazy times. .

Had a little sneak peek taster of a couple wines which will be poured at @vanwinefest this week 👀, courtesy of @trialtowines 😍. Be sure to pop by their tables this week to try these two winning wines, and others 🥂🍷

BC's Tinhorn Creek Oldfield Series 2Bench white is a blend of 44% Viognier, 27% Sauvignon Blanc, 22% Semillion, 5% Muscat and 2% Chardonnay. This is a delicious white blend with a fantastic creamy texture, but also refreshing to sip on. It would pair perfectly with a cheese and charcuterie board or winter salad, but is also easy and enjoyable to drink on its own. It's $21.99 at the winery (or at local wine stores for a slightly higher price point). A perfect taste of the Okanagan. We will be sure to stop for some more tasters of this at winefest this week, and honestly, this might be one of my new white wine staples. I think it would please most palates. .

The red is the Catena Malbec 2017 from Mendoza Argentina. This family run winery got its start in 1902 and is credited for putting Argentina wines on the map and revolutionizing Malbec. This wine is 100% Malbec from the Catena family's high-altitude vineyards in
Maipú, Lujan de Cuyo, Tupungato and San Carlos, and Maipú. Obsessed with this Malbec, and at $24.99 (currently on sale for $21.99 until Feb 29th!) at the BC Liquor store, this is a great value for a quality Malbec. Also obsessed with the story behind this family winery. It's too long to write here, but google this family who revolutionized Argentina wine. We are hoping we get a chance to speak with Laura Catena at the festival 🤞

Wanted to show you some sad empty bottles of delicious BC Cab Franc wines I've been drinking lately, before these bad boys go into the recycling bin! ♻️. This was my first time trying the Robin Ridge Cab Franc Merlot and it was incredible. At $25, this tastes more like a $40 bottle IMO. Great value, so snatch a few bottles up if you get a chance (I picked this one up from Swirl in Yaletown). Here is the full roundup, none disappointed 😍🍷. Yay #BCWine 💪🥰.

Had an amazing dinner at one of our local go-to restaurants last week. A ton of bread, wine, and pasta was exactly what we needed to kick off 2020 (hellz nah to diet resolutions!)
We see a lot of celebrities in "Hollywood North" but this is the first time we got bumped from a table for an A-list celebrity. I guess they didn't want to just join us (WE ARE FUN, COME ON! JOIN OUR GLUTTONOUS CARB FEST!!). Anyway, it was fine because we were finished eating, and we were moved to a fun table in the bar for some aperatifs (they make a killer old fashioned here 🔥) If you're in Vancouver, be sure to check out this old van staple. It's the best Italian food, a great wine list, and a cozy environment (with a beautiful patio for summertime! 😍). We drank le volte dell d'ornellaia Sangiovese blend, which paired perfectly with our Italian food, and some Hester Creek white to add some BC flava to the table. And hey, you might have a movie star join you (or just steal your table, but whatevs 😂🙄).
