Book Presentation at Mexican Consulate in NYC 10.10.23

This past Tuesday, October 10th, Consul General Jorge Islas presented my book 📚 Mexican Wines: A Guide to Fall in Love with Wines of México”. @winesofmx

After moving to New York City from Texas, I found a supportive community through The Mexican Consulate. Over the years, many of these communities have become friends, and we support each other's projects. Presenting my first book is a significant milestone for me as a person and an entrepreneur. It feels like a full circle to celebrate this achievement in the same place that opened its doors to me when I arrived in the Big Apple 🍎 🗽

Gracias to Karla Bueno and Consul María Fernanda from the Mexican Consulate for making this happen. Moreover, having a conversation one on one with our Consul General and him presenting the book was truly an honor.

We were joined by steemed friends, wine colleagues, and media, and I can thank everyone who showed up for an intimate gathering supporting me and the Wines of México.

To the Mexican Wine Industry: I know the future looks bright and I hope you know that there’s a writer, a blogger and educator in New York always supporting you on this side of the border.

The journey from a writer to an author was a significant leap, and I now hold that title with a newfound sense of responsibility and pride.

As such, as an author, I advocate for respect for the millennia wine cultures of the world.

Wines of Mexico deserve attention, not like some more prominent organizations have told me, 'It is so niche.' Particularly, a larger French organization used those words to describe the Mexican Wine Culture. Little did they know that we had the first Winery in the Americas. Mexico Vino Culture is not a niche; it is necessary that we continue to speak of the many wine cultures of the world that have extensive histories and deep-rooted traditions around wine. We have to move from exclusivity to inclusivity, and learning more about different cultures around wine is being wiser.

A little bit more about me: if you have not noticed I am a huge soccer fan lol and this is the perfect time to be celebrating with great wine, incredible taste, and the best hospitality.

Stop scrolling! This is the most exciting Nebbiolo I’ve tried recently. 🔥

Forget Barolo! I'm obsessed with the organic, high-altitude Nebbiolo from Dominio de las Abejas in Mexico 🇲🇽 @dominiodelasabejas . I believe this producer, led by Mauricio Ruiz Cantú, is the definition of a natural wine pioneer.

I had to find out: Who are they? Where are they? And how can I get my hands on their limited-production wines in the States?

I’m delighted to share that this time, my words ✍️, earned me a print feature! 😁

🔥Read my article about Baja Food and Wine 🍷in Full Pour Magazine, Issue No. 10. 📖 @fullpourmag

Writing this article was a journey I embarked on two years ago when the Mexican Consulate invited us in New York to meet Baja California State delegates and sample their seafood 🍤. If you recall, I had the pleasure of speaking about wine and food pairings 🥂 during that event. That day made a significant impact on me, and I continue to maintain relationships with many of the delegates. 🤝

I’m especially grateful to Ramon Inzunza @ramoninzunzamx , who connected me with Chef Pedro Bermudez. Chef Bermudez @bienconchita graciously shared his insights into the great work our government is doing to ensure Mexican seafood fishing reaches a top level 📈, from the shores all the way to your dish. 🎣

This has been a dream come true for a girl who loves connecting words 💖, crafting narratives, and sharing the evolution of food and wine. It took me over 15 years to find my niche, but I did it! 🎉

I loved working under the direction of Lauren Buzzeo @laurbuzzed a truly remarkable journalist.
