I can't believe it's been seven years since my wonderful mother passed away. As I've continued to go on with my own life struggles, what is helped me to get through is remembering that I am my mother's daughter. And those wonderful qualities that I admired within her are also within me. I am forever grateful to my mom for loving me and teaching me how to navigate life's challenges. Miss you always Mom! πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ’œ by @wingsofresiliencehealing

My wonderful father passed away nine years ago today. Through the years of grief and sadness from this loss, I also learned how to stand in my own power and to be my own best friend. At the end of the day, we are only with our ourselves all the time. My father taught me so much in his lifetime so it's very fitting that I've continued to learn and grow in the face of his death. πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹ by @wingsofresiliencehealing

Yesterday, my Uncle Jeffrey passed away. He was my father's brother. He was always there for me growing up, and even more so after both of my parents died. Then he stepped in as a surrogate father to me and grandfather to my kids. I have so many fond memories of him: all our family sing-alongs, visits to the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade, going to the theater and coming to see all of my performances. He's definitely the reason that I love New York cheesecake! He was always the one that you would go to if you were buying a new car. And a more recently, I could always count on him to support my children, whether it be attending a dance performance for my daughter or my son's high school graduation. Even with all my work with grief and finding my way after losing my own parents, this loss runs deep. My Uncle is my last connection to my wonderful father. When I was with my uncle, I could feel my father's presence. And as I always say you have to feel it to heal it and that part is painful and never easy. However, I know that I am resilient and I feel peace in knowing that my uncle is back with my parents. Here's the thing life is everything that happens to you good, bad, happy, and sad. To be human means that we sign on for it all.. Please hug those that you love a little tighter tonight and always have gratitude for your health and being able to enjoy another day. πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹ by @wingsofresiliencehealing

Such a powerful message, a reminder that to fully experience life you have to feel it all grief, sadness, loss but also happiness, joy, and laughter! And learning to get back up when you fall is what makes you resilient!!πŸ’ͺπŸ¦‹ by @wingsofresiliencehealing

A good reminder to me, that grief is not linear. It is very normal for time and distance to occur after a loss, where you feel like those wounds are not as deep as they used to be. Then something happens like it has for me that mirrors past losses and cracks me wide open again. I am always learning, always growing, and forever will be trying to figure out how to navigate this thing we called life! Sending love to all those struggling with loss and grief. You are never alone. πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹ by @wingsofresiliencehealing

As a woman in my 50's, I have chosen to look at aging as a privilege. I have worked really hard on my fitness and my mindset. I have been ballroom dancing for 26 years . Being on stage, lights me up and gives me an outlet for my healing. I love dancing to move my energy and raise my spirits! Every year my dance studio does a showcase. This year I chose the song "Legs" by Vanessa Williams, a wonderful anthem celebrating women's empowerment and staying strong as we age. "And the legs are the last to go!😘" I am very proud of this routine. Special thanks to Loreta for our amazing choreography and to my instructors Vika and Lizzie for helping me to sparkle on stage. And to Christopher Riley for my beautiful photos. As the song says, "Gotta Keep Dancing!" Find what you love and just keep moving!! πŸ’ƒπŸ˜˜πŸ¦‹ by @wingsofresiliencehealing

This is 52!! There is so much to celebrate in this past year and of course in the coming year! I feel very blessed to be surrounded by so many people who support me and love me unconditionally. First of all I am so grateful to my friends who came out to celebrate my birthday yesterday. This mama's heart was so happy to be able to have lunch with my beautiful daughter today. A big part of my turning 50 and beyond has been to continue to challenge myself to work on my fitness and , to do things that are good for my mind and my soul. I am so grateful to my OG's. Jaime Barr and her staff at the Collective by Jabfit and to Karen Mitchell and the team at Sweat. And more recently, I have loved working with Brielle Wymbs on my dancing and my strength training. Her choreography is so fun and full of fire! And Brielle did a beautiful job, teaching my birthday class to my friends and making my day extra special. I continually have to mix up what I'm doing in terms of my exercise and my goals to stay healthy. Aging is not easy, but as a friend and colleague so lovingly shared with me, it's a privilege. I have also continued to strut my stuff in the ballroom. I just adore my Fred Astaire Tarrytown family. My second home for the last 25 years. And I am continuing to make my way back into the theater and giving myself time to sing for fun. I love my dear friends in the Westchester Women's Choir. It is such a joy to sing with them. Thank you to all my Reiki and yoga clients for allowing me to provide you with spaces for self-care. With all that being said, I can't let my birthday come to a close without acknowledging and thinking about my wonderful parents. I miss them every day but today even more. We would always celebrate my birthday together and they always made me feel special and loved. Here's the thing about grief and loss, you get used to it over time but the pain of missing those that we've lost and love is still hard. I resonate so strongly with the saying that where there was love there will be grief. Grief and love often coexist. I am so grateful for my parents and for the many gifts in my life.
Cheers to another year!πŸŽ‚πŸ₯‚πŸ¦‹ by @wingsofresiliencehealing

Our first Bend and Bowls event was a success! It was such an honor to teach yoga to an incredible group of women and provide them with a space for reflection and self care. To have the class followed up by a delicious lunch by my friend Chef Kate from @hearttotable22 made the day even more nourishing and special. Soon to follow is information about our next event on March 1st! Hope that you can join us!!

Today would've been my mom's 83rd birthday. She was such a bright life in my life and the life of my whole family. Her smile lit up a room. And her ability to be resilient in the face of many of life's challenges truly inspired me. Miss you every day mom!!πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹ by @wingsofresiliencehealing
