2 works by Winnie Hall as part of her duo show ‘When Walls Become Windows’ with Rowan Bazley up at Alfies recently. Winnie Hall, If They’re Like That, Then Why Can’t We Be Like Them?, 2026. Graphite on paper, light box, wall drawing, dimensions variable. Winnie Hall, Scrapbook Painting, 2026. Oil on canvas, 110cm x 130cm. For Hall, humour, discomfort and absurdity coexist in works that challenge ideas of authenticity, taste, and value, while revealing the emotional textures embedded within overlooked forms of material culture. by @winnie_hall
Pics from my workshop, D.I.Y Sculpture Park with @rosettaarts We spoke about the need for green spaces in cities / ideas about sculpture and the importance of accessible art / We made our sculptures using recycled and found materials and then worked collaboratively to design our park, thinking about how it functions and curating our sculpture park Last pic is Crystal Palace sculpture park which was commissioned in 1852 and finished in 1854. They were advertised as the first dinosaur sculptures in the world 🦕 I ❤️❤️❤️’d this workshop and the thoughtful kids that came 🩵 by @winnie_hall

Two shows I’m really excited to be in next month! Is it Cake? Opening next Friday and continuing for a month 07.11.26–06.12.26, Sat–Sun, 12–6pm PV: 06.11.26, 6–9pm  Taking inspiration from Lucy Lippard’s 1984 essay ‘Trojan Horses: Activist Art and Power’, Is It Cake? highlights works that do not represent systems of power, value or institutional organisation, but enter them – co-opting their own languages and structures to explore questions of desire, imitation and labour. Curated by Ella Belenky, Lucy Hutchinson, Barbara Mueller & Ellie Wyatt. And Funny People at The Lowry from 21st Nov till 17th Jan curated by @zoerwatson and @mcgrath.annie In a world shaped by information overload, political uncertainty and global crises, artists and comedians employ humour as a tool in their practice, to critique contemporary conditions or provide moments of relief and human connection. Through a wide range of contemporary artworks, Funny People explores humour as both a subject and a critical lens, inviting audiences to reflect on, question and laugh at the world around them. A big thank you to @zoerwatson who I met whilst I was on my residency at @oof_gallery in 2023! by @winnie_hall
Introducing: @winnie_hall Winnie Hall (b.1998, London) is an artist living and working in London. Working across painting, sculpture and installation, Hall transforms familiar objects, images and references from everyday and popular culture into playful, uncanny encounters. Her work explores the point at which recognition begins to break down, using humour, absurdity and visual illusion to question ideas of taste, value, authenticity and nostalgia. When Walls Become Windows a duo show by @winnie_hall + @rowanbazley Opening drinks 10/10 3-6 pm On view - 9/10 - 11/10 1-6 pm “Winnie Hall & Rowan Bazley use painting as a way to envision new worlds. Picture making is proof that there is more than just Elephant & Castle, London, The UK, Europe or Planet Earth. For Hall, humour, discomfort and absurdity coexist in works that challenge ideas of authenticity, taste, and value, while revealing the emotional textures embedded within overlooked forms of material culture. She plays with interpretation and challenges our preconceptions. Giving life to a mass produced toy mouse, or blowing up an antique map with uncomfortable precision. For Bazley, the Bialetti Moka Express becomes a fascist dictator, an overdesigned Italian teapot grows legs and starts goose stepping across a grey wasteland. He warps words and signifiers to create new meanings which work in conjunction with our realities. “When Walls Become Windows” allows these alternate realities to exist side by side, and invites visitors to notice the debris that is left behind when they transfer back to the world we have been told can only ever be the way it currently is.” Big thanks to @razzmatezz @bolding__ @alfiesantiques We hope to see you there 🍻 by @winnie_hall
