September is all about Rhythm & Routine @orangetheory, which is a perfect time to talk about Time Under Tension.

A slower tempo increases time under tension, reinforcing movement quality, keeps your muscles engaged longer and helps build stronger muscles. But which direction should you be slowing down?

It’s the eccentric (lowering or lengthening) phase of the movement. 💪🏼

One of the best things about visiting Japan is eating/drinking our way through this beautiful country! Here’s a video recap of almost everything we ate on this trip. Sometimes we were too excited to take a pic and just dived right in! Know that there were plenty of kobini onogiri, custard creams, melon pans, whisky highballs, lemon sours, and oh my goodness the list goes on. 😋Special thanks to @lamsgram for the incredible Sakae Sushi recommendation in Osaka. 🙏🏼We were first in line when they opened! 😊

A belated post recapping an amazing bday weekend last week celebrating the hubs, our brother-in-law and our puppers Ripley!

Festivities started with a group gathering at our favorite local brewery @paperbackbrewing where Nugget discovered beer. 🙃

Went to our first Dodgers game in perhaps 20+ years (I know, I know!) and it was sooo much fun! For the first time ever at any type of game, we got on the Jumbotron for just a hot second and yet I was recognized by someone in the OTF fam. ☺️🧡!

We went to our first Renaissance Fair and it was beyond our expectations and can’t wait to do it again next year (maybe in costume 🤔)! Wrapped up the bday weekend with dinner at TOC winner Antonia Lofaso’s restaurant Scopa.

Every opportunity in life is a chance to grow and learn. I leave @otfnorthridge with a better understanding of who I am as a person and as a better coach, but most of all I leave with a full heart.

Pictures often don’t do justice to capture those precious moments, but here are just a few from my time there in no particular order. Thank you for the memories OTF Northridge.

Celebrating the hubs b-day in Vietnam with a morning singalong on the bus to the Mekong Delta. From bus to boat, we stopped at a group of islands to sample some cobra snake wine, got buzzy with some bees before we drank some honey tea and even the locals joined in to sing him happy birthday with a cake made by by the only bakery on unicorn island. Finished the day with a 90-minute full body massage for less than $20US and street food for dinner. by @wipwithg

Why Cruise Down the River Rhine?

A river cruise had always been on our bucket list, but after reading an article last year that global warming was causing historically low water levels often too shallow for river cruises to complete, we figured that since climate change wasn’t going to get any better we decided to do this trip sooner rather than later.

We signed up to see the storybook villages, rolling vineyards and hilltop castles along the Rhine River, but to also experience passing through the many water locks.

Watching the captain navigate some of these narrow locks was so impressive! We’re talking just inches! The lock is filled or emptied, and then the ship continues on its course.

The Rhine scenery and water locks did not disappoint, but neither did the service, food and drinks on board! Until next time, cheers!🥂 by @wipwithg
