Just like that! The final week of
BLACK HISTORY MONTH

A period where we ALL (race, creed, and color) should celebrate the contributions of Black / African Americans to our country 🇺🇸... our world 🌍. #NowMoreThanEver

🟥⬛️🟩 I'm Black and I'm proud.✊🏾 And I'm also old enough to be history.🤣

A dope exercise, revisiting and reminiscing in some of the experiences of my life that remind me of my Blackness and the pride and joy that comes with it. 🥰

A mere sample over my lifetime in one minute's time...

✈️ Off to Dallas this month for leadership training with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, because serving my community and serving looks in uniform are both part of the job. 😎😅

As Flotilla Commander of the Lower Manhattan unit, I’m proud of the work we do to support the Coast Guard in promoting boating safety, security, and stewardship of our waters. Our missions include:
🛟 Vessel Safety Checks
📚 Recreational Boating Safety Education
👥 Public Affairs & Program Visits
🍽️ Culinary Support

And guess what? Anyone 18 and older can join us! No prior experience needed, just a willingness to learn, serve, and occasionally stand around looking official. 💁🏽‍♀️🎖️

There’s something special about watching a vision come to life, especially when it’s happening right here in my hood. 🖤⚓

I had the opportunity to celebrate with @garryanthonyjohnson2, Michael Preston @sankofaso and supporters at the recent @harlemrocket ribbon cutting at West Harlem Piers.

What they’re building is about so much more than getting people out on the water. It brings together maritime access, tourism, economic development, culture and community, and creates opportunities to introduce more people to an industry and a waterfront that have not always felt accessible to everyone.

As my own interests have expanded in the maritime world, I love seeing work that connects so many things I care about: boating, community, economic opportunity and, of course, Harlem.

Did I mention this is in my Hood?! 😊

Congratulations to Garry, Michael and everyone working to bring the Harlem Rocket vision to life. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s ahead. 🚀⚓🗽

Don't mind me... just hanging off the side of a 114 ft yacht, practicing how to rescue a passenger if they somehow end up in the water 💦🙈 when they are not supposed to. 😅 by @with.tuesday
