it’s mental health awareness week here in aotearoa, new zealand and i wanted to take a moment to remind you all to check in on yourselves and each other. healing isn’t a straight line, and it is completely okay to not be okay. be gentle with your mind.

speaking of stories that understand the weight of mental health, i recently read Fighting Chance by @mads.rafferty and I loved it. it is easily one of the most raw, beautiful, and deeply resonant books i’ve picked up in awhile. i’ve only recently been introduced to her work and this was my first time reading something of hers but she’s very very quickly become a favourite of mine. i cannot wait to continue this series.

happy bookshop day!! 🥹📚🎀💗

there is something so special about bookshops that i don’t think i’ll ever get over. wandering through the shelves, picking up books because the covers caught your eye, reading the blurbs on the back, and somehow leaving with more books than you originally planned to buy. 🤭🛍️📖

i’m so grateful for the stories that have found their way into my life and for this bookish community that makes loving books even more special. there’s nothing quite like sharing your excitement over a new release, gushing about fictional characters with people who understand, or adding yet another book to your ever-growing tbr. 💌📚

so today, let’s show some love to our favourite bookshops, especially our local indie bookshops, and the people who help keep the magic of reading alive. if you needed an excuse to buy yourself a new book today, consider this your sign!! 🤭💕

Hi @natsbooknook_ , this is my application to join Nat’s Book Nook! My name is Diya, and I’m located in New Zealand! I post here on instagram and read primarily romance, fantasy, dystopian, ya, and psychological thrillers.

I bring a genuine passion for books, creative content, and a growing community of readers. I create aesthetically appealing posts, reviews, recommendations, and interactive content that gets people excited about reading. I would absolutely love if you’d feature the folk of the air series! I hold that series very dear to my heart and it was one of the first series I read after joining the Bookstagram community!

My favourite part of the book community would have to be the kind and genuine people that make it what it is. I have met the most amazing people through this community, gushed over bookish news, buddy read books together, and done so many things that have only enhanced my love for reading. The book community makes reading even more fun than it already is and makes reading ‘cool’ for younger generations which I believe is so so important, especially during a time of literary crisis and simply in general!

My favourite character from OUABH would be Evangeline. I see so much of myself in her and truly feel so understood from her quotes. I love her personality, her radiant energy, and the magic that encompasses her.

As September comes to an end, a little reminder that conversations and advocacy around mental health don’t have to end with the month. 🤍 Mental health deserves to be talked about, supported, checked in on throughout the year, and woven into everyday conversations, not just saved for awareness months.

It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to reach out. You matter. 🤍

World Suicide Prevention Day is a reminder of something I feel very strongly about. Mental health deserves to be talked about openly, without shame or judgement. As someone who studies psychology and has always felt deeply passionate about mental health, this is a topic that means a lot to me. I believe that sometimes simply checking in, listening, or reminding someone that they matter can make more of a difference than we realise.

I’m sharing this simple spring-inspired flatlay as a small source of light and hope, and as a reminder that even through difficult seasons, brighter days can still come.

I got these white French tips with gold details done for my birthday last month and somehow never posted them, so I thought… why not finally show them off? The details reminded me of the Folk of the Air series and Elfhame 👀

And now that an official screen adaptation of The Folk of the Air is in development, I have so many feelings 😭😩 I LOVE this series so much that I’ve basically built Elfhame in my head. I have my own versions of Jude, Cardan, the courts, the outfits, all of it. Naturally I’m terrified it won’t live up to the version I’ve created in my head. But I’m choosing to have trust and hope and just see how it goes
