The whole Mexican street culture, such an epic reminder that connection is so easy.

Because when a Mexican says: “Provecho!” They really really really mean that they wish for you that you enjoy that meal.

(At least in the town where I live they do!)

A total stranger. One word. You can feel it.
A single word to a stranger can carry so much love.

Sharing wipeouts is easy, and I do it all the time. People laugh, I laugh, everyone’s happy. And if you get a negative response its fine, because it is a wipeout anyway. Sharing that feels safe for me.

But sharing something I am genuinely proud of? For me, that’s scary. Because what if people don’t agree. What if someone gives you shit about your win.

Well. I’m doing it anyway.

I surfed this wave during a surfcoachweek in Porugal with @pepijntigges , my first time surfing the Atlantic, first time in a 4/3wetsuit, a new board…

I know the way I surf is far from perfect(haha building in a safety net here lol). But I think I look badass.

It was not an easy wave. I’ve been surfing for one year. I show up every single day. I work on my physical, mental, emotional, energetical, spiritual wellbeing, everything just to improve and be better at being myself, surfing AND life. And this one…

This one just felt really, really good. I shit you not I was celebrating this wave and cheering, laughing the rest of the group in between the duckdives back to the line-up. And way after the session ended.

And I am so lucky it got caught on camera by @alexandre.ahmarani

So here it is. Me surfing the wave. Feeling badass. I am fucking proud of it!!
Celebrating, without apologies. 🌊

This life ✨🌊🏄‍♀️
It did not come for free.
And no, I am not talking about money.

It cost me years of the hardest work I ever did. Alone. Without witnesses, nobody to applause for me. Just myself for myself.

Today I feel at peace. I feel free. Fortunate. Loved. Some may call it happy. I can truely say I am living and building the life I want for myself.

To get where I am I had to do the thing I was most scared of:
Give up all control
I had to fire my mind from running my life
I had to let go of all the fears and resentments
Say goodbye to literally EVERYTHING I always thought was keeping me safe
Total surrender to the unknown
Trust in a power greater than myself

I did and I am still doing it every day. Because I tend to forget this is what it takes sometimes.
And don’t for a moment think: Oh my God she is ‘there’.

I am not.
And I will never get ‘there’ because

‘there’ is just an illusion

All I have is now.
Fckn cliches turn out to be so true…

And I am here now because I do the work.
Every.
Single.
Day.

Yes I am lucky, but not because of luck. I am lucky because I got granted the courage, commitment and dedication to choose doing the work that is needed every day. The resilience to never give up.

So if you want what I “have”, I’m sorry man, you gotta do the work. It starts with making the choice🌊🏄‍♀️

And I promise, the price you pay is beyond worth it💖

Btw funny fact when I did not surf yet I used to wonder why surfers were wearing foundation all the time… 🤓

I forgot to say the Dutchie was actually the one who was late every single other day of the week.

But when you say to a Ducthie: we meet at 7:30 Dutch time, she cannot resist. She will be there. On the second. No matter what.
