Last month, I had the opportunity to facilitate a poetry workshop at Soho Home in Los Angeles. It was a sweet evening of poetic exploration where we reflected on the theme of home.

At the end of the workshop, someone asked me if I had a recommendation for writing prompts. Someone else shared that they were trying to build a journal practice.

I hope these are spark your own creative expansion and personal exploration as you show up for the page. Enjoy the process of developing your journal practice and seeing what unfolds.

Creating intentional space to reflect, ground, and maintain your center is more critical than ever before. Please take good care of yourselves. Stretch your imagination. ❤️

Last month I celebrated my birthday, and With Space Between also celebrated a birthday. When I first started this journey, I committed to giving it one year to see where it would lead.

And, wow, what an extraordinary year it has been!

In my first year of business, I have facilitated over 40 workshops – virtually, in person, and hybrid!

As a Facilitator with Lighthouse Communications, I've facilitated workshops to support people to feel more confident as communicators, public speakers, and storytellers. I’ve facilitated workshops with Netflix, Meta, Perkins + Will, Genentech, Chime, and Emerson Collective. I am infinitely grateful to the entire Lighthouse team!

With Space Between has also designed custom workshops for Lyft, IDEO, Peer Health Exchange, Ed Farm, and University Innovation Fellows. I got to share the stage with some phenomenal speakers at Ed Farm Future of Learning Summit. I’ve had the chance to work with University Innovation Fellows at the Stanford d.school, working with fellows representing HBCUs! I've led Joy Breaks for large teams to nurture relationships.

I’ve been a Community Design Advisor for IDEO.org, working with a dynamic team of leaders and organizers throughout the US to reimagine the future of childcare. I’ve been a Facilitation Coach for One Workplace and a Public Speaking Coach for friends preparing keynotes.

I knew starting this business would change me. But, this year has stretched me in ways that I never could have imagined. I’ve grown as a person, a leader, and a business owner.

Visit the link in my bio to learn more about my current offerings. I am committed to creating joyful spaces where people feel seen, celebrated, honored, and a greater sense of connection to others.

Huge thanks to every single person who has gone above and beyond to support me in this huge year of transition. Thank you for trusting me with your work, your teams, and your communities. This year would not have been possible without each of you.

From the bottom of this big heart, thank you. You all showed up for me, while I was learning to show up for myself. Happy Birthday to With Space Between! Cheers to year two! ❤️🥳 by @withspacebetween

I wrote this post last night before waking up to the news about O’Shae Sibley all over my timeline. I am so tired. I’ll be taking a social media break to be present for my mental health and my community. Subscribe to my substack to stay connected or contact me via email / text. I’ll be back soon! ✌🏾❤️ by @withspacebetween

I am still learning how to trust myself. I've spent months thinking about launching a Substack for @withspacebetween

I got stuck in my own head. I got in my own way. This Summer Solstice felt like the perfect moment to get out of my own way and just hit "Publish".

Building @withspacebetween continues to carry me into all sorts of spaces and rooms that I never even imagined. I trust my vision. I look forward to all that is still unfolding.

I guess I have a Substack now. If you're interested, I hope you'll consider reading and subscribing.

What would it like to make yourself proud? I am committed to exploring that question - one step at a time.

Thank you for being part of my journey.

❤️

P.S. I cut my hair and I feel so much lighter. Cheers to releasing the old to create space for the new. by @withspacebetween

Recently I shared this exercise on my personal page. It resonated with quite a few people so I decided to turn it into a post.

I love sharing reflections and exercises that have been helpful for me in my own personal development. This is one of my favorites.

What if we could see ourselves through the same lens as the people who love us most? What would we notice? What might be transformed?

ID: Slide 1- A tangerine color background with magenta font in a spiral pattern that says “See yourself through the eyes of the people who love you” In the right corner is a spiral pattern in tan, pink, and mint colors

ID Slide 2: Tangerine colored background with a search bar in the center that says “an exercise in love” Beneath the search bar it reads: Ask someone who loves you to share 2-3 qualities that they admire and appreciate about you.
Listen. Receive. Believe.
Choose to see yourself the way that they see you.
Notice what changes. by @withspacebetween

I have been reflecting a lot on what it means to trust self. We all have so much inner wisdom and often search outside of ourselves for the answers we already know. While building With Space Between, it’s important to support my clients to feel confident in their own wisdom. While I often offer suggestions when coaching, I believe it’s more important to offer thoughtful questions that support my clients in finding their own answers.

Here is a short reflection exercise to support you in identifying areas of your life that you might be seeking external validation. Where are there opportunities to trust your own wisdom?

ID: Slide 1- A mint colored circular shape against a cream background. Within the circle it says bolded “Everything you are seeking is already within you.” Speed throughout the circle are the words purpose, meaning, joy, presence, belonging, connection

ID: Slide 2- Magenta font against a cream background with the words:
A Reflection on Inner Knowing
Think of the last month.
What is something you have found yourself
"searching for"?
Write 3 places where you've been seeking this. (It might be a physical place, a person, or a thing).
Ask yourself:
How many of these places exist outside of me? Where are there areas I can offer this to myself? How do I want to reclaim this?
Write a commitment to yourself. Place it in your mirror. Slide 1- A mint colored circular shape against a cream background. 👋🏾 My name is Alysha. I am the human behind this business. About six months ago, I quit my full-time job at a design company to work for myself. I took some time to rest and now I am building a business called With Space Between.

My vision is to create spaces that center joy, community, and creativity. I hope to bring people together in meaningful ways to feel more deeply connected to self and community. I will share more about this emergent vision over time, but here are a few things to know about me:

💕 I am a proud former theatre teacher. I come from a lineage of educators, healers, cultural workers, and organizers. I believe that being a good teacher is actually about being a humble learner. I am deeply curious about the world and deeply care about people.

💕 I am a professional dreamer. I embody spaciousness in both my personal and professional practice. I am building this vision with patience, intentionality, and full presence. I create each offering for my clients on a foundation of rest and abundance. I hope you feel this energy in all that I share and the experiences that I facilitate.

💕 Poetry is my love language. I find comfort and wisdom in poems. I find poems in people. And sometimes, poems find me. When they do, I love to give them a home on a page.

💕 I have a deep appreciation for noodles, puzzles, that feeling of starting a new book, and a good pot of tea.

Thank you for being here! I look forward to sharing more as With Space Between evolves alongside me.

Always,

Alysha
