‘History is written!’ 🏆

Feel incredibly honoured to have commentated on @sufcrootshall winning a first ever national cup as they beat Wealdstone 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the FA Trophy final @wembleystadium

I’ve always believed that a commentator’s dream is to have their voice attached to a moment in history - this is one I am proud to be part of, thanks to @bbcessex 📻

Holders #Billericay Town face a tricky away tie at neighbours #Brentwood Town as they begin their defence of the BBC #EssexSeniorCup, with the draw for the Third Round being broadcast by the competition’s supporters this evening.

Town lifted the prestigious silverware back in March following victory over #GreatWakering Rovers in front of 2,076 spectators at the JobServe Community Stadium. Now the newly-promoted National League South side take on Brentwood in a repeat of the 2025/26 Isthmian League Play-Off Final as they aim to retain the County Cup. Step Six club #Basildon Town’s reward for causing a BBC #EssexSeniorCup upset at home against Buckhurst Hill is a Second Round tie at #Stansted after the draw was broadcast by the competition’s supporters this evening.

Town, who compete in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League First Division South, progressed through Round One thanks to a solitary Lucas Wilison strike - plus a late Dino Maras penalty save - to defeat Buckhurst Hill of the Isthmian League North Division, two steps higher. Another win for Basildon or Stansted would propel them further into Round Three, where they’d join #Essex’s senior teams from the #EFL through to Step Four of the pyramid.
