I feel no need to speak on my achievements but I will say there was a time I would’ve giving anything to get to half of what I have now, I already surpassed my wildest dreams and it’s truly only the beginning… thank you by @wndrlnd_zone

October raised an entire generation of alt mfs 🦇👻

Michael Myers. Jason Voorhees. Freddy Krueger. Ghostface. Leatherface. Chucky. Pennywise. Pinhead. Candyman.

We grew up watching masked killers chase teenagers through dark hallways and somehow thought this was completely normal.

Then came the rest:

Vampires. Werewolves. Witches. Zombies. Ghosts. Demons. Skeletons. Haunted houses. Graveyards.

The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Coraline.
Monster House.
Scooby-Doo.
Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Goosebumps.

Then the games:

Resident Evil.
Silent Hill.
Left 4 Dead.
Dead by Daylight.

Then the internet gave us goth, emo, punk, scene culture, dark anime edits, CreepyPasta, AMVs and underground music.

Black hoodies. Chains. Tattoos. Piercings. Masks. Silver jewelry. Corpse paint.

And somewhere along the way, we realized we weren’t actually afraid of the dark.

We liked it.

For the goths, emos, punks, metalheads, horror addicts, gamers, anime weirdos and underground music freaks…

October feels like home.

The monsters become icons.
The darkness becomes beautiful.
The weird becomes normal.

Halloween isn’t just a holiday.

It’s 31 days where the freaks finally get to come outside. by @wndrlnd_zone

It’s officially spooky season, which means my personality for the next 31 days consists entirely of horror movies, unhinged energy, and questionable decisions. 🦇👻 by @wndrlnd_zone

Michael Myers barely even had to do anything.
No elaborate backstory.
No supernatural monologue.
No ridiculous dialogue.
Just a white mask.
A blue jumpsuit.
A kitchen knife.
And a man silently standing in the distance while you slowly realize he shouldn’t be there.
That was the genius of it.
The suburban neighborhood.
The empty streets.
The porch lights.
The autumn leaves.
The babysitting.
The slow stalking.
That fucking piano theme.
Everything felt normal.
Until Michael appeared.
And that’s what made him terrifying.
He wasn’t some monster hiding in a castle.
He was standing across the street.
Watching.
Waiting.
Then Halloween gave us one of the most recognizable villains in horror history and basically created the blueprint for an entire generation of slashers.

Ghostface wasn’t scary because he was some unstoppable supernatural monster.
He was scary because anyone could be behind the mask.
The phone rings.
“What’s your favorite scary movie?”
And suddenly answering a random call doesn’t feel like such a good idea anymore.
The black robe.
The white mask.
The knife.
The voice.
The phone calls.
The chase scenes.
The rules.
And then Scream did something even crazier.
It made fun of horror movies while becoming one of the most iconic horror movies ever made.
It knew the audience knew the rules.
Never say you’ll be right back.
Don’t split up.
Don’t assume the killer is dead.
And somehow we still watched every character make the exact wrong decision.
Ghostface became an instant Halloween icon.
A costume.
A mask.
A voice.
A whole personality.

Freddy Krueger and permanently fucked up the idea of going to bed.
The striped sweater.
The fedora.
The glove.
Those knives.
That laugh.
But the scariest part wasn’t Freddy.
It was the fact that you couldn’t escape him by waking up.
Because once you fell asleep...
You were in his world.
And the more tired you became, the closer he got.
Freddy wasn’t just another slasher.
He could manipulate dreams.
Change reality.
Mock you.
Torment you.
And somehow crack jokes while doing it.
Then you had that unforgettable nursery rhyme:
“One, two, Freddy’s coming for you...”
Imagine being a kid and hearing that shit.
Then trying to fall asleep by @wndrlnd_zone
