Words seem to feel like empty air especially when no combination of letters in a phrase could ever do Moriah’s life or her tragic loss justice. Mo’s magnetism outshone her quiet demeanor attracting anyone and everyone with her gentle grace, soft kindness, and dedicated prowess. Moriah was one of the first people with whom I was able to experience life’s wonders. Beyond being an incredible athlete and competitor, Mo cared about everyone around her. She brought people together and, later in life, continued to foster communities while inspiring others to become the best versions of themselves. It feels unfathomable to speak about Moriah in the past tense. Physicality is such a beautiful blessing and curse of the human condition, but Mo’s spirit and her energy will forever prevail in the sun rays cast over mountain ridges, the snowflake flurries swirling down from winter skies, the winds whistling across crystal lakes, and the flower buds blooming into wild berries. May we harness Mo’s strength to channel this anguish and build a brighter future. It is a great understatement to say I feel honored to have known Moriah’s friendship, been motivated by her character, and shared in her earthly experience. May we meet again on a hillside under the trees amongst a patch of wild blueberries overlooking the lake’s horizon. I love you always, I’ll miss you forever, and I will cherish you eternally.
