All in the Mix. Thank you @southernhomemag for the thoughtful feature in your recently released book by @lynnleeterry , “The Inviting Southern Home”.

Featuring a project in Houston’s Piney Point neighborhood, Lynne’s interview captures our process of designing by mixing time periods, styles, fabrics, and collections to capture beauty while keeping the home true to the client. by @wolfholdendesignstudio

A bedroom that balances English and French antiques with bold contemporary art. Both stately and modern at the same time.

My mural for the @juniorleagueofhouston ballroom began with a trip to Texas to photograph the local flora & fauna for inspiration.

I worked with @wolfandholden to select the palette of metallic gold and off-white: elegant yet neutral enough to host a rainbow of parties and events.

The ‘before,’ above. My vision below.

I believe the ballroom was originally designed by McMillan 40 years earlier, with walls lined in the most beautiful blue and gold damask silk.

Before picking up any paint, I always hand-draw a mockup.

Even scaled down at 1in:1ft, at 150 ft around, this ballroom’s drawing may have been one of my longest yet.

12.5 ft of room elevations on paper!

My studio was humming for over a year!

I could spend a lifetime talking about the details... more to come at a later date.

Though hard to see here, there are narratives of local critters & native foliage around the room.

The mural takes place among live oak, magnolia, crepe myrtle & pine trees.

What a whirlwind!

Never could have done it without my team of brilliant artists: @erinpollock.art @jnacoburn @joy._.xiong @elizabethwhalleyprojects @_calliesmith_

Cranes, a family of egrets, some lazily swimming turtles in a bayou, deer, armadillos, many azaleas and local native flowers surround the guests.

Nestled in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood, architect Bill Curtis’s (@curtisandwindham) home places a century-old live oak at the heart of its design. Featured in his new book Building on Tradition, Bill has shaped every corner with intention. 🤍

Created as a thoughtful downsizing, the house is intimate in scale, and inside, designer Ann Wolf (@wolfholdendesignstudio) brings the architecture to life with layered color, Arts and Crafts–inspired details, and a sense of warmth that feels collected and enduring. ✨
