“Carry Me Home” — out Friday, November 22

This piece is a love letter to the places that built me. I directed this dance film with the brilliant Senda Bonet behind the lens and the extraordinary Melissa Guerin-Torres embodying the choreography.

The stage has always been my truest home, the place where I feel most grounded and most myself. But in this film, Melissa dances through projected images of my home: our lake house in Michigan (the beloved “4 Acres”), the sky and mountains I return to when flying between California and Illinois, and the grid of the Chicago suburbs where I grew up.

It’s a merging of worlds… the places that shaped me, the art that sustains me, and the voice that carries it all forward.

I can’t wait to share it with you. Song is out 12.22.25

We are thrilled to share that John Fairbairn and Molly Durand have been nominated for Best Duo Acting in 4 LONG YEARS at the London Night Film Festival 2026!

This little film rests on the relationship between Marsha and Leo, so having their work together recognized in this way feels especially meaningful. Director David DeSantos and producer Megan Raitano guided Molly with the script and throughout the shoot, always keeping the focus on the relationship rather than the political opinion.

David carried that into his work with the actors. Molly recalls him giving her one simple note: “Now save his life.” It grounded her as Marsha and brought her straight back to the love for her brother underneath everything else. John was game for anything, and his commitment, heart, and focus were felt throughout the entire shoot. It’s rare to work with an actor’s director who knows exactly what to say to get the most honest performances, and David did that beautifully.

Huge thank you to everyone who helped bring 4 LONG YEARS to life. 🖤

4 LONG YEARS is a short film I wrote right after the current administration came into office.

I was trying to understand how people can have such polar opposite perspectives while essentially experiencing the same reality. The more I sat with it, the more I realized the political world often mirrors family dynamics.

Two people can grow up in the same family and have completely different experiences. Different stories about what happened. Different views of a parent or sibling. Different opinions of what happened or didn’t happen. I’ve always found that fascinating, and I think it’s part of why people are so reactive to politics. We look at government the way we look at our parents. They’re supposed to take care of us, and we all have very different opinions about whether they did.

This scene is the moment Marsha and Leo stop arguing about ideology and start actually seeing each other. It’s the reckoning that finally makes moving forward to actual connection possible.

It also helped me process the rage I was feeling watching the country become even more divided. I understand why people lose faith in institutions. I understand why people feel the whole thing is rigged. But I also struggle with how easy it can become to dismiss the suffering of people outside our own experience if it serves our side. That’s the tension I was wrestling with when I wrote this.

Thank you, Jackie Tepper, for inviting me to moderate at this year’s Dances With Films Festival at the TCL Chinese Theatre. @danceswithfilms

It was truly an honor to moderate the post-screening Q&A for Reservation Redemption, directed by Brenda Fisher (Yakama) and produced by Blake Pickens (Chickasaw). Meeting Brenda and Blake and celebrating this beautiful film with them was an honor.

The story follows Marchand “Chief” Rice (Colville), whose life seemed destined to be defined by violence and incarceration. Yet it was inside prison, after losing everything, that he began to discover who he truly was. Through the guidance of Francis Cullooyah, a Kalispel spiritual leader, Chief found his culture, his purpose, and his tribe. Walking the Red Road, he transformed not only his own life but became a leader whose example continues to inspire healing and hope in the lives of countless others.

“I treat people the way I do because of who I am, not because of who they are.” - Francis Cullooyah

The film is dedicated to the life and legacy of Francis Cullooyah (1943–2024), whose wisdom lives on through every person he touched.

Thank you, Brenda and Blake, for trusting me with this conversation and for sharing a story that reminds us that when we know who we are and where we belong, one transformed life can create a ripple that changes many others. ❤️🎬 taken in TCL Chinese Theatres by @wolfpactproductions

Last year I wrote a film set 4 years from January 2025 because I couldn’t reconcile my feelings about the political landscape and I didn’t like the anger inside me. It worked. I was able to channel it creatively. But the shower that I took last year just ain’t keeping me clean today and as masked men take our streets and innocent people are stripped from their families or killed, while people I know IRL justify it, I don’t know that silence is a principal that aligns with my version of integrity anymore.

Even posting this some may say I’m just another “radical” or a “mouthy woman” as they justify Renée Good’s death or criminalize George Floyd. I’m writing because it’s a tool I use to better understand my environment and perspective, it’s my page, my voice. So my short film is about how we all use politics as a shield to keep the walls up and to not have real conversations. We trade peace and logic for being “right.” But there is right and wrong. And If some are willing to defend systems that prioritize corporate profit over constitutional rights you’ve lost your way! My spiritual heroes don’t look the other way and call that peace they fight in a productive manner or walk and walk and walk. The film is about being vulnerable and actually listening also, that’s power. I’m gonna have to put the rest in my comments cuz I’m getting too mouthy here ;) I will just quickly quote Jesus: “Whatever you do to the least of these, you do to me.” If we’re willing to dehumanize our neighbors by justifying their death to defend systems that profit from fear, we should ask who we’re really serving.

Pam Bondi demands democratic voter rolls in exchange for releasing a citizen, treating Americans as political bargaining chips. Who does this serve America returning to greatness ? She be treadin’ no? - more in comments: by @wolfpactproductions

Catherine O’Hara ❤️ to know her is to love her. And without claiming any sort of superior love, those of us who came up through and toured with The Second City have always seen her as our Mother-Muse, our lineage, comedic royalty, a founding Mother in our eyes of what true sketch comedy and improv can be.

She grew up in Toronto, Canada and came up through improv and sketch at Second City Toronto in the 1970s, basically at its inception back when it was this wild, experimental breeding ground for improvisers and actors. She trained, performed, wrote, and eventually became part of the legendary group that created SCTV, which for those of us improv junkies its our sacred model to aspire to. And it wasn’t just about punchlines it was about people and how they relate and the truth inside absurdity. My first class at Second City was in Chicago 2001 and Michael J. Gellman taught me how to just BE not ACT. He was also the Artistic Director at The Second City Toronto, where O’Hara began her career.

What always struck me about Catherine O’Hara is her kindness and humility not only within her own personality but in her characters. Even her fierce characters had this undeniable vulnerability, she never played “jokes” she played people. Even when the characters were outrageous, they were emotionally grounded.

And then you watch her career unfold: Beetlejuice, Home Alone, Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, (hundreds of parts in movies and TV shows in between) then of course Schitt’s Creek!!!!! Moira Rose was an instant icon and simple character based sketch comedy was wildly successful. Many say sketch can’t translate into full pilot or real comedy TV and to me its the foundation. I think her characters come out of her love for humanity. She sees how strange we all are and accepts it, then enhances it. The best actors/comedians recognize the same fragilities in all of us and mirror it back so we can laugh at ourselves. We are all delightful idiots. Point is I love this woman and I’m just one of many who feel this way. RIP you taught us and gave us the MOST! by @wolfpactproductions

ACT II - DYING TO LIVE - THE BALLET loosens up as we shift from black-and-white self preservation into Color as she takes the risk to love again. Now we witness the incredible Mauricio La Fuentes step forward into his stunning solo.

In this moment, his movement becomes a language of receiving her heart, holding it with reverence, letting it expand inside him, and expressing through every turn and lift how deeply he desires to earn her full trust. His body arcs, folds, and opens as if he is living inside her heartbeat, proving through action, not words, the is worthy of the gift she’s offering.

Fully living, fully risking, fully feeling, the color grows richer, deeper, almost transcendent, the palette of a heart saying yes to love! ❤️ Dying to live and love.

The ballet is now officially released on Vevo + Apple Music.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: Kanie Sequoia Freeman & a sneak peak of the official release of DYING TO LIVE - THE BALLET 🩰

This piece has lived in my heart for years, and today I get to share the first glimpse: the black-and-white world where it all begins.

Dying To Live is about self-mastery, devotion to your craft, and the beauty of enjoying your own company… until life cracks open and invites you to take a risk again.

In this opening section, Kanie stands fully in her power. The classical structure mirrors the fine tuning of working on oneself - grounded, magnetic, alive in her own skin. Shot in a DTLA loft, Cinematographer Senda Bonet literally danced with the performers to capture the electricity between Mauricio La Fuente and Kanie Sequoia, a chemistry that ignited the whole room. The sequence starts with her own self journey, laying the foundation of self love.Thank you @impeccablestar_

Tomorrow, the full film blooms into color.
Tomorrow, the story continues….
Tomorrow…..
Official music video drops 12.6.25.
