Happy 8/15 ! In memory of the 70–85 million lives lost. by @wonhyeonghong

Writings for Sediments, Unearthed(堆積層、掘り起こされたもの) (日/EN)

This text was written for my installation Sediments, Unearthed (堆積層、掘り起こされたもの), which was exhibited at the Kyoto Seika University Degree Show in February 2026.

A body holding a weapon.
A weapon made of concrete.
A border drawn in the name of protection.

This work excavates the traces where nation, violence, peace, and the body have sedimented over time.

「Self-Portrait with a Daewoo K2 rifle」

The K2 rifle is a 5.56mm individual firearm used by the Republic of Korea Armed Forces (ROK Armed Forces), and it is one of the most commonly embodied tools of the state within the military service experience of ‘Korean men’.
Since the 1980s, the K2 has become established as the standard service rifle of the South Korean military. It is not merely a weapon, but a medium through which the state trains the individual body in the sensations of order, discipline, defense, and violence.
