How do you brand a season?

In our block seminar »Dear Summer« @hsduesseldorf @hsd_design the task was to brand summer 2026. Rather than treating summer as a product or institution, we approached it as a cultural and social phenomenon, open to personal experiences, critical perspectives and different interpretations.

Starting from references such as the »Summer of Love« or »Brat Summer«, each student developed an individual position on summer 2026 and translated it into a branding and visual identity concept.
Throughout the course, we worked on conceptual thinking, typography, art direction and creative direction, while questioning familiar ideas and conventions of branding and visual identity.

The results were a series of individual identities, media and applications, each offering its own perspective on what summer 2026 can be.

Many thanks to all the students for an intense and inspiring week, and to @lalaco2 and @alexmainusch for having us and making the seminar possible.

Visual Identity and Website for @bodeareal

A new identity for a former industrial site in Hannover, now evolving into a place for work, culture and production.

The visual language takes subtle cues from the site’s history. Bronze tones, industrial materiality and graphic elements referencing security, structure and access. by @workoutservices

Last semester, we had the pleasure of teaching »Publishing a House« @fal_hannover @kug_hannover @leibnizuniversityhannover

Together with the students, we explored how architecture can be translated into editorial design and visual storytelling. Starting from a significant building in Hanover, each student developed an independent publication somewhere between documentation, interpretation and experimentation.

Throughout the course, we worked on layout, typography, image-making, narrative structures, materiality and print production. The goal wasn’t just to design a publication, but to develop a strong editorial concept and a visual language that could tell the story of a place.

The results were a series of independently conceived books, zines and small print publications, each offering its own perspective on architecture and the city.
Many thanks to Prof. A. Haas, the KUG team and all the students. by @workoutservices

Website for @plot.berlin an architecture studio focused primarily on housing projects. Developed as part of the broader identity system, the website uses multi-column layouts to organize project information, while the homepage acts as a visual feed highlighting current work, references and the studio’s evolving archive.

Inspired by the everyday, the studio develops dense, spatially specific forms of architecture and community across Berlin and Brandenburg.

Naming, visual identity and website for the Berlin-based architecture studio @plot.berlin

The identity is rooted in typography and extends into a collectible business card system featuring different photographs of the studio’s highly detailed architectural models.

Focused primarily on housing projects, PLOT develops architecture across scales and project phases, mainly in Berlin and Brandenburg. Inspired by a fascination with the everyday, the studio creates dense, spatially and programmatically specific forms of architecture and community within existing constraints.
