While in India for #WCOG2026, WGO staff and leadership had the special opportunity to visit the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) Training Center in New Delhi and tour its facilities.

Inaugurated in April 2015 under the leadership of Prof. Shiv Kumar Sarin and Co-Director Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, the ILBS Training Center trains the next generation of hepatologists and provides comprehensive, patient-centered care across a broad spectrum of health needs.

Thank you to our colleagues in New Delhi for their warm hospitality and for upholding the excellence of WGO training centers!

As part of their monthly spotlight, the WGO Climate Change Committee highlights a new joint guidance document from the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).

The document proposes a practical framework to help endoscopy units advance environmental sustainability while maintaining high-quality patient care. The framework includes 12 sustainability indicators across 7 key areas, including administration, education, appropriate use of procedures, consumables, waste, travel, and energy.

The goal is not perfection: it is to provide practical, measurable steps that endoscopy units can implement according to their resources and progressively build on.

Sustainable endoscopy is a journey, not a destination. Small changes can lead to meaningful improvements for patients, healthcare systems, and the planet.

The World Gastroenterology Organisation is proud to announce the inauguration of its Manila Training Center at St. Luke's Medical Center – Global City Institute of Digestive and Liver Diseases.

As WGO's first training center in the Philippines, the Manila location marks an important addition to our global network of 25 centers. St. Luke's standing as an institution of excellence in Southeast Asia and on the global stage, together with its steadfast commitment to advancing digestive health care and medical education, makes it a valued partner in WGO's mission.

In the words of our President, Prof. Carolina Olano, welcome to the WGO Training Center family!

Also a recipient of the WGO Trailblazer Award for Excellence in Medicine, Prof. Dutta has made significant contributions to our understanding of gallstone disease and gallbladder cancer. Her lecture offered a compelling look at this continuum and underscored the depth and significance of her work in the field.
