The exhibition “Spectrum of Desire: Love, Sex, and Gender in the Middle Ages” at @metcloisters explores beloved masterpieces through the lens of desire to refresh how we think about works that have long been in the public eye and, in turn, invite us to consider our own ideas of love, sex, and gender.

Throughout the creation of the exhibition, the curators sought feedback from an advisory committee of community leaders, scholars, and members of the clergy.

Cultural strategist and Advisory Committee member Trevon Mayers (@worldmeetstre) contributed a community-informed perspective to the exhibition’s interpretation and spatial experience, including the installation of curtains and benches to evoke a sense of intimacy around works in the exhibition.
