You can’t criticize the lack of research and then refuse to support more of it.

Advocating also means sharing the therapies we’ve found, what has worked for Benjamin, and what we’ve seen make a difference in his life.

A big reason DMI is controversial is because there isn’t enough published research yet to show its effectiveness.

I post about DMI because I think it’s life-changing. If you sat through as many sessions as I have, asked questions, learned what these exercises are doing and why they’re doing them, and then watched those things translate into real life, you probably would too.

There’s a huge difference between having an opinion about a therapy and actually learning what it does.

And that’s exactly why we need research. There is a petition linked in my bio calling for more research into DMI, and it would mean so much if our community would go sign it. Research could help us better understand DMI and hopefully lead to better insurance coverage and access so more kids have the opportunity to receive it.

Most of getting the twins ready happens in our living room. Our bathroom is pretty small, so bringing one of Benji’s chairs in there to get him ready really isn’t an option.

It’s a lot easier to brush his teeth, do his hair, and get him ready when I can put him in one of his chairs where he’s comfortable and supported. So for us, the living room works.

He used to keep his hands clenched tight to his chest, and now he’s getting so comfortable during these exercises that he’s swinging his arms around, reaching for the phone, and trying to hit the person working with him.

He’s such a character.

Old video- I get asked this question a lot. So if you are new here Benji is diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He is non verbal. He never formed any baby babble. (ex: mama dada baba) Just because he’s non verbal doesn’t mean he doesn’t get his message across. Of course like any baby he has unique cries for different needs. He also knows how to yell for us if his iPad turns off while he’s playing with it. He has happy screams too! He will communicate with an eye gaze device! We hope one day to hear him say his first words but I’m just grateful we get to hear his voice at all!

Chilling on our egg shaped chair this morning! Benjis a big fan, nice weather too! Also the hat is sized for 6 months lol.
