Delighted to have presented the Hampstead School of Art Abstract Painting Prize to artist Lindsey Tyson at the exciting WIA Awards last night at the Roundhouse! In describing Lindsey’s work entitled “Wednesday”, our Principal, Isabel Langtry who was one of the prize judges said: “Lindsey’s composition is beautifully balanced, dynamically coloured, and alludes to a poetic thinking that is quite compelling.” The HSOA Gallery will host a solo exhibition of Lindsay’s work in the near future.

My amateur shots don’t do justice to @alstrmack ‘s amazing digital landscapes that provided an evocative backdrop to a mind blowing speedboat trip through readings of writing from Africa and its diaspora by super talented artists! Wow!

Absolutely fantastic! Congratulations to all of you for an excellent performance and thanks for a wonderful and inspiring evening. Many of us are now embarking on a quest to complete the reading and sonic list!

Here are some highlights from our HSoA Silk Painting Workshop at the Hampstead Summer Festival at Keats House last Sunday. Adults and children tried out this ancient artform and painted on 100% pure silk hankies and ties provided by the Hampstead School of Art. There was such joy during the workshop as these vibrant and happy paintings show! 😊

Futuristic dub #techno from @space_afrika meets readings selected by @ellah.wakatama set on a backdrop of #digitalart landscapes I built using a mixture of real #african topography and the afrofuturist mythological imaginary inspired by the excellent music and texts.

Posted @withregram • @artofsilkpainting Congratulations to Semira on her Master’s Degree show at the Slade! Semira, a trained architect, studied Silk Painting at HSoA and has developed these skills to stunning effect in her works on silk which she installed in a room during the Graduate Show. Taking advantage of the height of the room, Semira hung some 80 meters of 100% pure Pongee 5 silk that she hand painted using special silk dyes and covered in asemic writing with Gutta. She added light projection to create a sensuous immersive experience with viewers becoming a part as their shadows merged with the installation. I absolutely loved it! Congratulations Semira! The Slade Graduate Show is on until 26th June and is well worth a visit. taken in Slade School of Fine Art by @wprm1
