Something new is taking shape at Taliesin West.

Installation is nearly complete for "Originals," our newest exhibition, opening this Friday, October 16. Get a first look at this fresh exploration of decorative arts through the work of Artists-in-Residence Katie Parker @katieparker101 and Guy Michael Davis, @guymdavis who collaborate as Future Retrieval. Since 2008, they’ve drawn inspiration from mining archives and museums to digitally collect and make objects that reexamine the history of decorative arts.

Be among the first to experience it. "Originals" is included with your Self-Guided Audio Tour ticket at no additional cost and will be on view October 16, 2026, through January 31, 2027.

See more about the exhibition with the link in our bio.

A striking example of Frank Lloyd Wright’s early architectural vision hits the market at $2.4 million.

Built in 1895, the Chauncey Williams House in River Forest, Illinois, reveals Wright’s emerging interest in Japanese-inspired design and the relationship between architecture and nature. Boulders gathered from the nearby Des Plaines River frame the arched entrance, appearing to grow from the brickwork, while a distinctive quatrefoil window, steeply pitched roof, and broad overhang give the home its unmistakable character.

Inside, original details tell the story of Wright’s evolving design philosophy, from the expansive living room and Roman brick fireplaces to the octagonal library and dining room. Natural materials, geometric forms, and carefully considered proportions make this residence a remarkable chapter in Wright’s architectural journey.

A photograph can be more than a photograph.

A name. A date. A handwritten note. A familiar face in the background.

In an archive, these details can become clues and clues can lead to stories that might otherwise be forgotten.

Coming soon: #AskAnArchivist Day, when we’ll dig into the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Collections and answer your questions.

What mystery should we investigate? Our Archivist Nicole Richard will be taking questions live on the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation's Instagram and Facebook pages on October 14 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. MST, make sure to include the hashtag #AskAnArchivist.

If you could ask our Archivist ONE question, what would it be?

What did Frank Lloyd Wright collect?

What’s the first thing you look for in an unidentified photograph? How do you handle a photograph that doesn’t have enough information to fully process it?

What’s in the background and why is it there? What do you do with items that have lost all context?

What are some of the different format types found in the archive?

What’s the story behind a particular drawing?

There are answers waiting to be uncovered and #AskAnArchivist Day is your chance to ask.

Start thinking. Our Archivist Nicole Richard will be taking questions live on the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation's Instagram and Facebook pages on October 14 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. MST make sure to include the hashtag #AskAnArchivist in your message.

A couple weeks ago, @missrebeccajean surprised me with a tour of taliesin west!
-
If you don’t know what is… it’s the world renound architect Frank Loyd Wright’s desert architecture studio he built for him and his apprentices in 1937. The original Taliesin is located in his home state of Wisconsin.
-
After Frank died, his wife took over and ran it for a bit before finally closing it down.
-
Now it’s a piece of history that shows what once was. A place where many buildings like the Guggenheim and ASU’s Gammage Performing arts center were originally designed.
-
I studied architecture in college and it’s where I first heard of taliesin west and always wanted to visit. So this was super special to me! Loved hearing about how west came to be and its origin.
-
Enjoy some of these photos I took on our tour!
