Marking the gallery’s first exhibition with both artists, OUTLAWS brings together two distinct artistic perspectives united by a shared fascination with the American West and the independent spirits who define it. From cowboys and rodeo riders to renegades and adrenaline seekers drawn to extraordinary pursuits, Goodson and Wrubel explore the adventure, independence, and resilience that have long shaped the Western experience. Through painting and photography, the exhibition captures moments of intensity and freedom, offering an intimate look at the characters who embrace risk.

Together, the works reveal a West that is both rugged and romantic. OUTLAWS invites viewers to experience the West through the eyes of two artists who find beauty in its untamed spirit, its remarkable people, and the moments that exist just beyond the expected.

Artist Spotlight: Steve Wrubel

For more than three decades, photographer Steve Wrubel has traveled the world in search of moments that inspire wonder. From the coastlines of California to the beaches of West Africa, his photographic practice has been guided by a desire to reveal the extraordinary within the everyday. Deeply connected to the American West, he draws inspiration from its vast skies, lingering light, and the quiet authenticity of its landscapes and people. Wrubel has traveled tens of thousands of miles through ranch country and rodeo towns, capturing split-second moments of movement and emotion.

Through his distinctive use of composition, light, and isolation, Wrubel transforms familiar subjects into unexpected visual experiences. A bucking bronco becomes a study in movement; a rodeo rider becomes a portrait of determination; and a fleeting moment becomes a lasting meditation on the beauty of the human experience. His photographs invite viewers to slow down, look closer, and discover the wonder hidden within the landscapes and lives of the American West.

See Steve Wrubel’s work in our upcoming exhibition, OUTLAWS, opening Thursday, October 8th with a reception from 6-9pm.

Every day is a new, humiliating adventure. Using my hands and some paint to show u what I see is a rush. Yesterday I almost threw this piece in the river but I knew there was something there, unanswered. Keep going. There's always more. That's how I see it. by @wrubel

We’re thrilled to welcome a new rotating exhibition from Steve Wrubel — Park House Dallas member, friend, and master of capturing the American West at its most electric.

Think cowboys, horses, bulls, and lone figures stretched across wide-open land — all caught in moments of pressure, motion, and quiet intensity. His work is rooted in simplicity and restraint… but it packs a punch.

Now on view, all works are available for purchase (see the Art section of our website for details).

And don’t miss Steve in the flesh — join us for an Artist Talk here at the Club on February 25th!
