This is how we started the decade. Keeping that same energy thinking bigger and executing smaller to make this decade greater than the last. Room for improvement is always the biggest room in my house. Words make people so be careful what you say to yourself. The power within us is greater than the powers against us so tap in don’t tap out. Let’s continue to imagine, design and build a better future.

Our hearts are heavy for all of the tragedies in our city and community.

We understand the concerns about safety at public events and we appreciate the proactive ideas that have been shared.

@UmojaFest is coming and we want to continue nearly 30 years of no gun violence. Our community has maintained this as sacred space and I want to commend this years Umoja Fest committee for all of the work to keep it that way.

Remember the future.

The first ever Re:Union on Union long-table dinner was the culmination of Africatown Design Weekend in 2018.

Over 300 community members spent the weekend redesigning Midtown Center, building collaborative development models and imagining a neighborhood that honors Seattle’s Black history and ensures Seattle’s Black future.

In those 8 years we’ve built a lot together and we’re still building.

@africatownlandtrust On this day, in 2016 Africatown Community Land Trust was born.

It is with deep gratitude that we celebrate ten years of comeback. Ten years of impact.

In 2016, with gentrification at its peak, the Central District hung in the balance. As Seattle’s future was being written and long-term planning implemented, Black Seattle was being erased, but community said no.

We said no to the erasure of our history and to Black displacement.

We said yes to a future that includes us flourishing, a new normal, rooted in equity. Then we went to work.

Thank you to the community, ACLT staff members, partners, donors, and supporters who have joined us in imagining, designing and building a community where our legacy is celebrated and our presence is cemented through Black-led development. A place were Black-owned businesses thrive and where Black families can live and own homes.

We are here because of you.

Celebrate 10 years of impact with us this Friday at the Juneteenth Freedom Festival and learn how we can make the next 10 years the best yet.

Blessed to see another 365!

First I gotta always give honor to my mother for giving me a shot at this thing called life. she made the sacrifice and on 3/3 I made my first appearance.

Looking back it was a good year with accomplishments mostly highs but definitely some rough terrain, valleys and tough tough losses also.

Started the year by giving myself the gift of recommitting to pouring into the next generation.

Welcomed baby Zhuri into the village

Back in NYC for the first time in years for my oldest son’s graduation from NYU with his masters.

Seattle Mariners African American Heritage Day 2026 Honoree.

Volunteer Service Award alongside my younger son who was received an award for leadership at his school RVLA.

October London @ Juneteenth.

Hosting our family reunion for the first time in Seattle.

Legacy front of my great grandmother’s CD home (still in the family!).
