it didn’t print the way i thought it would… understanding how riso inks print is a real learning curve i’m starting to see LOL… i keep getting owned by the dark inks being sm darker than i expect! but i made a little sign for our recycling bin at home to help remind myself which plastics can and can’t be recycled

bunch of pet portraits i did for the annual Ruffly Drawn fundraiser hosted by @thevbas! this is such a cute event… everyone who donates gets a gacha piece of art of their pet (and who doesn’t love to gacha), and all the proceeds go directly to helping shelter animals!

due to Newton’s poor health, we have not been able to foster for a bit, so it was nice to be able to contribute a little to the Burbank animal shelter and all the great work they do. ❤️ by @xabec

posting 1 day late, but happy hourly comics day!

i had to finish the last bit up today but 1) this is the first time i’ve ever completed my hourlies and 2) it’s been literally 1000 years since i drew anything one could deem a “comic” so it was kinda fun to get back to it!!!

forcing u all to witness my messy ass jank as hell scratchy scribbly drawings :’3

a couple more recent paintings/studies… all from life. preaching to the choir here but life studies rly are the most helpful…!! forcing your brain to make design decisions… or else (as is so often the case) reap the consequences of your indecision LOL 🙈 by @xabec

A couple of recent paintings from life.

Slowly getting the hang of it.

I get in my own head a lot about making and posting art... like is this what people want to see... or is this my "style"... etc etc... really stuff that no one cares about except for me. For 2026 I'm trying to free myself from expectations... I'm thinking of these studies as little puzzles rather than as "art" or "content" to be posted. Every day I sit down and try to figure something out that is hard for me, and I don't expect myself to post anything. Sometimes I fail pretty bad, but that's ok. The value is just in the doing of it. I figured I'd throw an update onto the ol' instagram since it's been a few months now. So far so good, I'm still keeping up the habit. And I do feel like I've been learning!! So that's pretty awesome. :')

All that said… if anyone has any job leads, lemme know LOL. I like color/paint the best but have worked and am open to design jobs too! by @xabec

Another couple of paints I did for Harley and Ivy’s luxe new Metropolis condo! For the night keys we wanted to really amp up the mood for their romantic candlelit dinner 💕

Thanks as always to our art director Carlos Sanchez, our design team Alex Dilts, Jeff Hua, Kenny McGill, Jason Park, and Jeff Purves, and my fellow painters Jason Lee and Richard Ziehler-Martin!
