CASTING is world-building. It has DNA, strategy, philosophy.

CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL is built on three lineages:

Legacy
Ballroom
Theatrical

These lineages do not operate independently. They work with one another.

Ballroom brings cultural authorship, history, and an embodied fluency that cannot be taught. Theatrical brings stamina, discipline, and the tools required to perform with force and precision on Broadway. Legacy recognizes that this work does not exist in abstraction, but in relationship to elders, ancestors, and a continuum of Queer artists who have shaped both Ballroom and Broadway, often without recognition.

This casting does not ask performers to act out a culture… it invites and trusts Artists who already live inside The Culture.

This is the cast of @catsjellicleball.🐱

REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES was born in Los Angeles almost forty years ago, and now we get to see the Broadway musical come home to @pasadenaplayhouse in 2027.

We are opening the doors wide and asking: Who haven’t we met yet? Who hasn’t had the chance to get into the room?

Director @lauriewoolery and X Casting, alongside Pasadena Playhouse, are holding an OPEN CALL October 3 & 4 in Pasadena, CA.

We’re looking throughout Los Angeles and Southern California for extraordinary performers. Maybe that person is you. Maybe it’s your cousin, your student, your coworker, the person you saw sing at a community event, or the singer who simply hasn’t been given the right opportunity yet.

That’s where we need your help.

Please share this post. Send it to the performers in your life. Send it to teachers, community theaters, arts organizations, colleges, churches, and cultural organizations. Tag your friends and family and help us spread the word to anyone who should know that this door is wide open.

We want to meet you. We know you’re out there.

The feature film THREE YEARS GONE will have its World Premiere at Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival this Saturday, May 30 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. A Los Angeles-set psychological thriller rooted in family, trauma, faith, and survival, the film follows an 11-year-old girl and her father as they spiral through paranoia, violence, and the search for redemption in the shadows of war and generational damage.

Written and directed by John Gutierrez and produced by Amiga Pictures alongside John Gutierrez and Julio Macias, the film stars Julio Macias, Pepe Serna, Elizabeth Caro, Joey Marie Urbina, Melinna Bobadilla and many more.

Really honored to be the Casting Director for this feature and to help bring together this haunting, and distinctly LA story. Excited for audiences to finally experience it at the festival. by @xcastingnyc

There are private moments in our work, and then there are monumental moments that sometimes come along too. Today, @catsjellicleball celebrates NINE @thetonyawards nominations. And today, we celebrate our entire cast who showed up audition after audition after audition after callbacks after private sessions over four years (you have no idea the rounds we put them through to find each of them), and each time they’d show up graciously, full force, before any moment like today was ever promised. We see those private small moments for years before the public ever does, and we witness moments like this too where Artist’s like ours take time to share gratitude after an audition, reminding us that the work we do is often in private and that every day our Practice is to practice living creatively, presently, at full force, collaboratively, every day, despite the unknown. We do that in casting too. Every day. Today, we celebrate our cast for collectively earning these NINE Tony nominations including Best Revival. Each of their ‘every-days’ as Artists is infused into these nominations. We celebrate them. We thank them just as much as they thank us. They are the workers running the show that’s giving Broadway a legendary run, unlike anything ever experienced. Congrats, Cats. You’ve earned your NINE lives. Each of you. by @xcastingnyc
