A couple of months ago I had the privilege to work with @rowhousepub on the cover and interior design of Plus One by the awesome Daphne M Watson @mypassionspen ✨ I had so much fun researching flowers native to Puerto Rico as well as looking at pictures of tiny coquis in order to bring this cover to life! I got to know the characters of Plus One intimately as I typeset their beautiful story and dialogue (spoken and through text!!) I feel so lucky to have gotten familiarized with this amazing book and to be given this opportunity !! 🌸🌼🌻🌺 Thank you to Row House Publishing 💐 Plus One is currently available as eBook and distributed by Simon & Schuster through all book platforms such as Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play and Rakuten Kobo 📖📚 #bookdesigner #coverdesign #bookillustrator #bookinteriordesign by @xhesikac
I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many amazing authors the past couple of months - and these are just SOME (not all) of those projects that I feel so grateful to have worked on. To express it as simply as possible - I love to help bring books to life, I love making book covers, I love typesetting the interior, I love everything that has to do with the process of creating a book. I think we can never have enough of books out there, especially during times like these where books are being fed into AI and then destroyed afterwards. I hope authors never stop writing and expressing themselves fully through this wonderful craft, I hope designers and illustrators never stop carefully going through every single stage it takes to create something wonderful. All this work is made step by step, mistake after mistake, through tedious work and revisions that is not easy, not fast but rather slow, painstaking and yet SO so very rewarding, so very educating - work that has helped me hone my skills over and over. I would not have it any other way! Thank you to all the authors that keep writing and thank you to all the artists that keep creating, never stop! #bookdesigner #bookcover #bookcoverart #bookdesign #illustration by @xhesikac
What a blessing to be back to the awesome @gibraltarpointto and spend my days painting and enjoying the lake shore Thank you for all the magic 💫 by @xhesikac

The art I got to create at @nekubi art residency for the span of three weeks! If you know me, you know I mostly work digitally and rarely do I have the confidence to do any hand painting. But this time, I really wanted to challenge that and allow myself to experiment. This series has been something I’ve been vaguely thinking about and spinning in my head for the past year or so, as a continuation of my bachelor’s graduation thesis, titled The Vent. I never got to showcase The Vent in its full intensity due to covid at the time, but I’ve always wanted to continue it one way or another and at least showcase that. So I’m glad I finally got to do it! Originally, The Vent explored anger, grief, sadness and all difficult emotions with all their glory - however, now, a couple years later, I felt called to utilize the same colours and compositions to explore something different. In some ways these difficult feelings still exist within their own right in all of my current work, however also paired with a curiousity for my roots as Albanian diaspora, family lineages, culture, history and personal identity. I see all these things as interconnected and I’m so glad I finally got the opportunity to creatively explore them. I think I have a lot more exploration to do but this was definitely a start! Also yeah…. hand painting is so much fun and I wish to do more of it 🙏🏻 #painting #artistsofinstagram #albaniandiaspora by @xhesikac
I still haven’t fully processed by amazing art residency experience in Kavala, Greece at @nekubi ! It was full of wonder, magic, curiosity, creativity and warmth - I got to explore to my heart’s content, learn about Kavala, meet amazing inspirational people and unlock new confidence levels within myself. I’m so thankful to Niko, facilitator of the nekubi art residency whom has been nothing but kind, supportive and informative throughout the experience. I was encouraged to explore, create and stay curious and inquisitive through and through - γεια σου ρε Νίκο! Also thank you to @anahitasn_ for being an awesome new friend, for creating with me every day in the studio, all of our deep and introspective talks, adventures and impromptu trip to Samothraki, thank you, queen, for being spontaneous with me! Also thank you to my fellow artists @sarammmmmmm and @mistahdux for your insights, your incredible work, your wisdom; I’m so incredibly inspired by you! I have so much more to say (as per my yapper nature) but I’ll just finish up by saying I’ve been so lucky and so grateful for this experience, I’ve been so privileged to be able to grow and learn so much about myself and beyond myself these past couple of weeks. I am excited to visit again, create more art and explore, explore and explore. by @xhesikac

We had a wonderful and inspiring morning at our friends’ @toomandesign studio, who generously hosted a silkscreen printmaking workshop for our nekubi artists in residence. From start to finish, we explored the entire process of screen printing, learning techniques, experimenting with materials and enjoying plenty of creative introductory fun along the way. Huge thanks to Michalis for his hospitality and for sharing his expertise so generously. A truly enriching experience for everyone involved! by @xhesikac
Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming the artists of Nekubis Art Residency for a screen printing workshop at our studio. It was a joy to share techniques, ideas, and creative energy with such an inspiring group. Looking forward to more moments of making and learning together! 🎨🖤✨ #screenprinting #nekubiartresidency #nekubiartresidency #toomandesign by @xhesikac
🫧 Whoop whoop! Toronto based illustrator and graphic designer Jessica Cvilo is joining our 2025 art residency program and we couldn’t be more excited! We’re ready to dive deep into the Mediterranean vibes together and build some beautiful bridges, culturally and creatively. Follow along: @xhesikac 🌊✨ Meet Jessica By day, she’s a digital design whiz. By night (and weekends), she’s got her hands covered in paint, ink and bookbinding glue. Jessica’s been mixing things up, taking classes in traditional art techniques like screen printing and bookbinding and playing with oil pastels, acrylics and big bold formats. Her sketchbook? Always close by. During the residency, Jessica’s excited to get even more hands on, experimenting with materials outside her digital comfort zone and embracing large scale work with confidence. A little backstory: She graduated from OCAD University in 2020, right as the world hit Covid pause. Her thesis never got its big moment…but fast forward a couple of years and she’s found her spark again. Now, she’s ready to breathe new life into that work, rebuild it through a traditional lens and let the Mediterranean magic guide her next chapter. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us! 🔮 #Artresidency #Greece #kavala #artworld #jessicacvilo #nekubi #art by @xhesikac
Another really exciting project I got to work on recently - a book cover for an anthology! This was also a little self indulgent because I’m such a huge fan of dark fantasy, also so much of my childhood was coloured with short stories from anthology books either for school or from the library. It feels like it’s all come full circle now to be making a cover for an anthology! Thank you to @bridgetteday_author for reaching out to collaborate! You can find her story in the book, along with Elly Call, Kathryn Danette, @marlenadutch and @gmgraywriting ! The book is now available through Amazon 🔥 #bookcoverart #bookcoverdesign #bookcoverdesigner #bookillustrator #anthology #darkfantasybooks #scififantasy #scifi #bookstagram by @xhesikac
It’s finally available! So, I had the opportunity to collaborate with @mj_forsh to create a cover for her awesome new book The Beast of the Kingswood ! If you’re into fantasy this is for you, if you’re into queer fantasy it’s doubly for you, and if you’re into medieval romantasy that is also queer then it is ALL the more for you. MJ is truly one of the coolest authors I’ve ever worked with and I feel so lucky to have been part of this process! You can find the book either through Amazon of your nearest book store <33 #bookdesign #bookcoverdesign #bookcoverillustration #bookillustrator #queerbooks #queerfantasy by @xhesikac
