This is a mixing demo using using mvMeter2 from TB ProAudio. This free plug-in is so helpful. Link: https://www.tbproaudio.de/products/mvmeter2 @tbproaudio

This is my method:
Insert on the mix bus
Calibrate to -18 dBFS
Set solo drum level so kick is around -7
Set combined drum and bass level to around -5
Add other elements, so full mix is around zero in the loud sections.
Consequently hit your mix bus compressor around -18 (I use SSL G Bus Compressor from UAD)

This all sounds pretty basic but gain staging is often underrated. This approach ensures all my mixes have a consistent starting point and I don’t get fooled by processing that just makes it louder, not better.

Works for me.

Great session with @theok1d last week. Always a fun day! Looking forward to finishing this new production and doing the mix. @theok1d still needs to add one of his 🔥 guitar solos for this outro!

I went to the Ultimate Music Seminar last week in London @cre8ingvision One of my takeaways was this idea that the most important metric is growth.

Do you agree?

Nice to think that if you’re on 100 streams or 100m, there is satisfaction in going forwards from where you are.

I’m Just A Regret Dealer is close to being the most successful of my productions released by @theok1d 5k steams so far. Help us get it to 10k!
