Oh man I remember what it’s like to be ghosted. I read Dolly Alderton’s Good Material and LOOOOOVED it so I thought I’d go back and read Ghosts!

This started off so strong for me in the beginning! It was funny and quirky but as the book got to part 2, it got a little monotonous and lost some of that quirk. I felt like it dragged on a lot with her mom and dad and felt quite repetitive.

Over all still enjoyed it but could have been structured a little better. To keep me gripped / care more for our fmc.

Her friend tho? Ass.

What a reading month!! Out of the 8 books, 5 of them were 5 ⭐️! I’ve been having such a fun time with the books I’ve been picking up and it’s reminded me how much I LOVE this hobby. 🥹

Let’s talk about the infernal devices real fast?! I know I’m late to the party (at least I arrived tho am I right) but damn this trilogy was good.

Special mention to Atmosphere by @tjenkinsreid and we all saw my last reel crying my eyes out 🫠 probably my fav book all year let’s be honest.

I’ve been meaning to get back on here but it’s been so daunting with booktok being crazy and unspoken expectations on ig. Do you guys ever get so excited to read a book and when you finally do, it just didn’t hit for you? 🥲

I heard endless things about this novel and maybe it was the hype or my own expectations but wow. Reading is truly subjective and pls don’t you forget it lol.

I started this on my trip in the Philippines and it was touch and go the whole time.

This is about a friendship between Lila and Elena in Naples, Italy. They grow up together but forge different paths for themselves due to family and economic circumstances. It follows their journey as children into adolescence and how their friendship changes themselves and each other.

I wanted to like this book so much. The writing itself was beautiful and so atmospheric but I think these types of books aren’t just for me where it focuses on a specific female friendship (I may or may not have female friendship trauma 😅). At some points it gripped me but most of the time it didn’t. I didn’t connect with any of the characters and I didn’t care about what happened or what happened to whom. I felt Elena’s friendship with Lila suffocating and even thought Lila a narcissist at some point. I may or may not continue this quartet but I’d still recommend this novel to others. It just wasn’t for me.

I picked this book up in the Philippines last month and I just knew I had to get through it now while I was in the mood 😅 Have you seen this thing, it’s dense 🥲

This was about an Irish family that’s falling apart in the middle of a climate crisis and economic ruin. You follow each flawed family member with their personal struggles and how everything that goes on with them is also interwoven with each other. Without going too much into what they’re going through, this family drama is beautifully written to put into perspective why we make the decisions we do and that despite how much you want to change the past, what’s done is done and all you can do is work towards what you want as your future.

This book was my Everest. Probably the longest it has ever taken me to finish a book. This brick of a novel was rich with the drama of the 4 characters in this family. The writing itself was so immersive and raw. Being in their minds and seeing them make horrible decisions makes you want to yell at them but also hold them and tell them it’s going to be okay. I felt like every word was carefully chosen and every sentence structure was purposeful to make these characters real and show you who they are at their core. It surprised me how easily I was able to plow through this monster of a book but I definitely had to take a break half way to just get my bearings ESPECIALLY after a certain characters’ pov that was completely unhinged.

They’ll surprise you, frustrate you and grip you into their lives so that all you’ll want to do is find out what the fuck is going to happen to their dysfunctional family.

Good morning!! ☀️ When I say…. I need a meaningful slow burn romance with depth and with humor, this is exactly what I mean 🥹❤️‍🩹

This book came to me at the right time. With what I’m going through in my life at the moment mentally, this book spoke to me and eased my thoughts and anxieties. The love and warmth cascaded throughout this whole story through Eve and Shep and even Ethan. It brought new feelings and hope for someone who is afraid to go through pregnancy and to be a new parent. The feelings I felt throughout this felt so visceral that it brought tears to my eyes for them and for myself.

I have yet to rate a surprise pregnancy trope less than 5 stars to be honest. That comes as a surprise to me and maybe others as well. If you’re someone who is hesitant to read romance or this kind of trope, its more than just a “love story” or a “surprise pregnancy” but a work of fiction that is more meaningful than those trope boxes. It’s about finding what you want in life whether it’s planned or not and taking it by the reins to yourself.
