With quite a few new followers it is time for a little introduction!

Yalck here, living in the Netherlands with hub and 2 kids: Thomas (8) and Vera (5). It is just great to see the world through their eyes! Let's squeeze in every inch of spare time exploring the world 🌍😇

Travelbuddies differ from my husband Jeremy to kids, friends, parents and of course a dino suit once in a while 🦕🦖

The recipe to an epic roaatrip through the icelandic highlands:
- 2 jeep wranglers with rooftop tent
- 8 trays of viking beer (don't mention the gin, its on the no go list now)
- 3 travelbuddies ready to spray some mud
- The moonlike landscape of the icelandic highlands
- Mercy from the icelandic weather gods

Early march every year you can experience the pinxi lantern festival at the pinxi district in Taiwan.

🚎 Only a bus or train ride away from Taipei.

🕯Each year around 7 or 8 waves of 100 lanterns are lit and send up in the sky!

🌧The mountain area gets a lot of rain and mist creating the ideal and safest conditions.

🔥And if you want... you can even lit one yourself. In that case, make sure you get at the starting point in pinxi in time though, I would say around 08.00 am to get a ticket for the event.

😊 Just witnessing the spectacle from a save distance is even easier. Just show up around 3pm or 4pm. Have some incredible food at the food stalls and look up!

As can be expected in Taiwan, everything is extremely well organized. From food, to timing to busses!

Waking up at dusk to experience the misty forest of Alishan National Parc in Taiwan.

To be fair... we had to share the train carriage and lookout point with at least 200 other tourists. Most originating from either China or Japan. At arrival the upcoming sunrise was pointed out with a lot of noise, selfiesticks almost hit the back of our heads and tripods were balancing on the sidewalks. Not the experience we anticipated on.

But as we left the famous lookout behind, the noises faded and it was just us in a lush green mountain forest!

One of the highlights of our Taiwan trip was an overnight stay at the beautiful lions head temple.

Don't expect an authentic temple experience but you do get to spend the night at this gorgeous temple with a stunning lookout over the misty valley.

Meals and beds are simple but the views definately make up for it!

Colors of the Philippines!

Just a couple of hour boat ride away from the 'surfers nest' you will find the sohoton cove.

Instead of backpackers on scooters filling up the streets you will get deep blue water, secluded islands and quietness.

Try to stay at the beautifully renovated @enchantedcove. Lovely food and the welcoming vibe will make you feel like you visited family.

Chasing sunsets in the Philippines! What a feast! From Mangrove to private beach, it sure did not disappoint!

(It's for the best that all the sand flies, the tide that soon swallowed the small stroke of sandy beach and the shivering on the boat while waves of salt water hit your face were not captured haha)

Just got back from an epic trip with some of my favorite travel buddies!

With Mieke I celebrated 12.5 years of travels, but even my 78 year old dad and little one got to join us!

Conquering the amazing slopes around the Sella ronde with these views.... the Italian Dolomites are something else!

These views, pizza, fresh powder snow and above all... 2 rebels who are getting more difficult to keep up with every year!

Throwback to this incredible sunset at the Faroe islands last summer.

We saw wind, more wind and rain every single day but when the sun did make her appearance....
