A few statues and monuments that caught my eye while wandering through Europe. Something about old architecture just looks better in black and white. #BlackAndWhitePhotography #FineArtPhotography #ArchitecturePhotography #FujifilmX100V #EuropeanPhotography by @yay.arnold
Maybe it’s the filmmaker in me, but I’ve always loved photographs that feel like stills from a movie. There’s something about giving a moment room to breathe. The people, the architecture, the light, and all the little things happening in the background. I know horizontal photos aren’t exactly made for Instagram, but I think that’s part of why I love them. They’re real, they’re how we see the world. They’re not formatted for an algorithmic world. A few moments from my travels through Europe, shot on my Fujifilm X100V. #streetphotography #fujifilmx100v #cinematicphotography #everydaymoments by @yay.arnold
There’s nothing wrong with the “flash in the face” style, but it’s not for everyone. You are the artist, not social media algorithms. Instead of trying to do what’s popular, do what YOU enjoy. Take photos in a way that fulfills your creative hunger, not stresses you out. Personally, I don’t like taking flash photos in people’s faces. It’s just not my style. I like to compose a little more slowly, think about color a little more intentionally, play with light a little longer, etc. And while I love to look at the work of masters of the run and gun style, it’s just not MY style. And if it isn’t your style, that’s ok. There’s no “right way” to do street photography. Your art should say something not just about your subject, but about you as the artist. So experiment to find your style and don’t feel inferior if your style isn’t what everyone else seems to be doing. by @yay.arnold

I heard a photography teacher once say “never take photos of people from behind, it’s uninteresting”. I disagree. If you’re a photographer, ignore the rules if the rules restrict your creativity and vision. Shoot what you like and forget the rest. #photographytips #streetphotographer #breaktherules #learnphotographyskills by @yay.arnold

I thought it’d be fun to do a color match theme. The woman in the second photo was uniquely perfect in that she was not only wearing red pants, but had a blue scarf. I love when photos just come together like this. 📍 Vienna, Austria 📷 Fujifilm X100V #fujiframes #fujifilmphotography #streetphotography #vienna #colorphotographylovers by @yay.arnold
