Ever missed an iconic pub or a lost shopfront that vanished from the city? 🏙✨ Meet Seán, the Shandon resident who is quietly shrinking down the Real Capital in mind-blowing detail with his project, Tiny Cork! 🎨📐 It all started with a simple daily routine: getting his first dog. 🐕 “A few years ago, I got my first dog, which meant daily walks around the city and around then was when I started really, properly looking at the town around me,” Seán explains. “We have so much interesting architecture... So I started trying to capture some of that.” Using techniques honed from painting Airfix planes and Warhammer figures, Seán recreates local spots that hit a deep chord with Cork locals. Whether it’s memories of the Queen’s Old Castle or debating which iteration of An Bróg you grew up with, his miniatures capture a moment in time that brings back a flood of nostalgia. Old Library Tickets And 1960s Summons Letters Uncovered During Massive Crawford Art Gallery Renovation 📜🔍 If you’ve been wondering what’s going on behind the scenes of Cork’s biggest cultural revamp, things are getting seriously interesting inside the Crawford Art Gallery. Eight months into the gallery’s massive redevelopment project—following the team officially handing over the keys to PJ Hegarty & Sons and the OPW back in January - workers have started uncovering a treasure trove of historical artifacts hidden beneath the floorboards and behind the walls. According to Gallery Director Mary McCarthy, opening up the historic building has brought plenty of fascinating surprises: Hidden Under the Floorboards: Construction crews have pulled up decades of lost history, including vintage library tickets, 1960s summons letters, old parking tickets, retro cigarette packs, and matchboxes. Architectural Gems: Hidden historic fireplaces have also been uncovered after being concealed behind wall paneling for years. ✨ There’s something so satisfying about seeing an old space get a whole new lease of life. 🏡💛 Instead of sitting empty, a historic stone-walled yard in the heart of Midleton is being transformed into what could become one of East Cork’s most exciting new coffee destinations. ☕️🌿 Coolbawn Yard is the latest venture from siblings Sean and Vicki Buckley, who are breathing new life into the beautiful space with plans to open by the end of the summer. 🙌 The vision?
